Hi there. I was just on the website of the US department of state Montreal office that said that K visas were going from $131 usd to $350 usd? Can someone please verify this for me. Here is the link from their website: http://www.consular.canada.usembassy.gov/visa_fees_canada.asp

Thanks for your help

yup - increase went into effect, for K-visas, worldwide (maybe in June? July?)

But - yer posting in the IR-1/CR-1 forum, so I must assume yer not filing any silly paperwork for a K-3 visa, yes?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Well, I am still foggy on the CR-1 and the K-3. I know that the K-3 has been administratively closed, but why would the Consular still process them if they are closed? Because there are still a bunch of people who applied for a K visa of some sort? And what makes the K-1 visa and the K-3 visa different? K-1 is I-129f right? I dont know what makes an application designate the K-3 visa or the CR-1. I know that the K-3 visa requires an adjustment of status once the beneficiary enters the country, but why on earth would anyone go the k-3 rout and have to spend and extra $1000 when they both take the same amount of time, and with CR-1 you are granted a green card in a conditional status for 2 years, having to petition after 21 months to remove the conditional status of your visa? That just seems silly to me. Do you have to file something OTHER than the I-130 to apply for a k visa? Do I need to designate anywhere that I am applying to petition for CR-1 and 2?

Thanks for all you are doing.
