My fiance will be coming here on a K-1 Visa, i was curious in asking can he travel within the US? is that ok? I mean we will be applying for his AOS but if we want to go somewhere like maybe after like 2 weeks he is here. Just around the US, is that possible?

As long as he doesn't leave the US, he's fine.

Yes - of course.

The I-94 allows 90 days of worry free travel in the US. After that, you may find it hard - depending where you go and if your stopped by ICE/CBP.

However, once you file for the AOS - your free of worry. (so, file for the AOS within that 90 days.)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Will the fiance(e) be able to travel to the U.S. territory islands like Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Samoa, Guam?

That, I'm not 100% sure of. I don't think so, but hopefully someone else will know for sure. :)

You want to avoid flying anywhere that will require you to go through US Customs and Immigration on either the outbound or return trip. Apparently people coming from Puerto Rico and the USVI, despite those places being US territory, are generally routed through Customs upon return to Florida, due to the relative ease of foreign nationals entering those territories. I've read very credible people here recommending against travel to the US Caribbean holdings without a GC or AP documents, just in case.

[Hawaii is apparently WAY WAY WAY nicer than the USVI anyways, or so I've heard.]

No idea about Guam and Samoa, but it wouldn't surprise me if things could get awkward coming from there as well. Hawaii is apparently very safe, though, if you really need a tropical beach experience in the next few months.

Yes. I am 100% positive on Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, I am assuming the last two are ok as well, but you might want to double check that!

To the OP:

Of course travel within the States is OK! They are not going to shackle him to your hometown! Just avoid Arizonia ;) (KIDDING)

My husband has been to six different states since arriving here back in November. Never to states where we think CBP would be an issue. We just always drive and he hasn't flown on a plane anywhere. He has his AP and EAD. Just waiting on the GC. We aren't going out of the country until we know for sure he has his GC.

I just wanted to second that you can definitely go to USVI and Puerto Rico, I've read posts from people who have done it before. You just have to make 100% certain that you don't accidentally go to the British Virgin Islands on a boat trip or anything like that and you can't have layovers outside the US during your travel. I'm also probably planning on Puerto Rico for our honeymoon because I've already been to the USVI and I didn't think they were that great and Hawaii is way too far away from the East Coast to be reasonable.
