Wine over the US border?

Hello guys,

Tomorrow I'm going on a tourist visit in the USA for 3 weeks and since I will be visiting my fiancee's grandparents I decided to buy some gifts for her family. Because I didn't know what to get for her grandparents I decided to buy 3 white wines from my country.

So my question is"can I take 3 bottles of wine with me(one is 0.7l in my baggage? I looked around at different places and the info's are different. Would appriciate a comment from someone that has been recently into the USA or knows something about this.

You are not allowed to take liquid with that quantity in your carry on. But you can bring 3 bottles in your check in bags.

Yes sorry, I meant I will take the 3 bottles in my check in bag.. So that amount is ok?

Technically you can only bring 1 liter of wine without paying tax...you have to pay tax for the other two but some people can get away with two or three even when they written down they're bringing 3 bottles.

you can bring them, is ok ... in checked luggage.

where it gets 'wonky' is

--whether or not you'll be paying a duty/tax on them, at the Customs Point. Be prepared to pay the tax, in USA dollars, just in case. Some people declare and not pay, some declare and pay, some not declare and it's confiscated, some not declare and are waived through. It all depends, really, on the Customs Officer, that day, at the POE.

Thanks guys:) I will bring 3 bottles of wine, declare them so what happens happens:) I mean one bottle is like 10$ so if I pay tax 10% or 20% it's still good...
