Gratulalok!! Came across your posting and was curious about a stokes interview experience. It sure did suck though that you had to wait so long, but am happy to read that you have had a happy ending to the nerve-wrecking waiting time and a belated christmas gift - a new year, a new life !? :)

Maxximus

Koszonom! I did in fact receive an Intenion of Denial (IOD) letter in last october, because they were not satisfied with my affidavit letters, so I submitted a shitload of more stuff through a lawyer and 3 weeks later I got the Card Production e-mail. (And I just received the 2nd CP letter, not sure why). So it worked out pretty good for me.

Good luck everybody, I'm done with USCIS till 2013!

Juliava: Thank you very much, it's been nerv wrecking for sure, but finally I've come to the end of this journey...at least for now!

hey Maxximus, our STokes Interview was easy! They first took my husband in (USC) swore him in and asked him question, about 20-30 minutes later they took me in (my husband stayed) and asked the same questions, easy to answer, for example where did you get married, and what hapened that day (we had the worst rain ever, a street was flooded (the street to our original wedding location) and someone was canoing in the street, we both said that.. and it made the IO laugh!then thy asked how many times I came to the US and if I always used the WVP, how many times my husband had met my Parents and things like that.... I was really nervous when I was waiting to get into the interview... but afterwards I had to say it was REALLY EASY! Good luck for your interview!!!!

Danke for sharing your experience - I'm getting everything ready as far as the paperwork goes and here and there my wife and me ask each other random questions they could ask at an interview, even at a Stoke's one, though of course hoping that those people at the San Francisco office are nice to us and have no doubts about your marriage - keep you guys posted :)

Speaking of asking eachother questions to prepare for the interview..it's so funny..me and my husband we have been together for almost 5 years now, and we did like a silly test the other day, to find out that we are not really prepared!i said thank god it wasn't the interview. Like what's my favorite color? really i don't even think i have a favorite color? so if i don't know it...how should my hubby know it? the problem is i think the easiest questions will be the hardest ones...

Whenever I hear people mention interview for USCIS, even a stokes I have the movie "Greencard" on my mind and how they ask Andie McDowell and Gerard Depardieu all those picky questions like "What's your spouses toothbrush color" .....in a way it makes me smile to see how they portray immigration in the US, but on the other hand really sad - yes, they do want to seed out fraudulent cases, but c'mon, ask a spouse of many years, no matter in which country it is of their significant others sock-length on the first date that happened years ago.....

For all of us who have their AOS filed and will in future - good luck with everything!! :)

Hey guys,

Sorry to ressurect a 4-year old topic, just wanted to follow up on my case and share my experience. Unfortunately things didn't work out too well with my wife, so I had to divorce her about one month before I could've applied for the 10-year GC being married. I once again hired an immigration attorney, and had my interview with USCIS last november. Well I guess I'll have to share some detalis about my marriage for this post to make sense. I went abroad for 2 months to take care of some stuff, and while I was away, she slept with another guy and got pregnant, so I divorced her. Anyhow, I filed for ROC by myself, since I had already sold everything I had in my country, and I already established a life here, with a job, car lease, apartment, so on so forth.

I was stressing for weeks before the interview. It took place in Charlotte, NC. It was a bit intimidating when I got called in, two IOs where in the office. Later I found out from my lawyer that the one who interviewed me was a junior agent, 2nd day on the job if I recall it correctly. The older gentleman was a senior officer sitting in the back of the office, supervising. The junior officer (a younger lady) was a bit nervous and asked a couple of intersting questions, some questions twice. (Might have been some sort of a tactic I guess). The interview took only about 15 minutes, the senior officer was super friendly and the granted me to remove the conditions on the spot. Well, it wasn't really the end of the rocky road, I had to make 3 INFOPASS appointments on 3 different occasions, because it turned out they forgot to order my GC after approving the case, so I only got it a half a year later (which wasn't a tragedy, I requested a stamp in my passport for a 1-year LPR while I was waiting). I'm ready to file for citizenship in 2016, but things are not really going good, I started to drink, and inevetebly I got caught for a DUI. I know it doesn't belong in this section of the forum, but I've been wondering if it's gonna be an issue when I apply for citizenship. It's a misdemenor charge, I've done the 30 hours of DUI classes, got my DL reinstated, paid all the fines and I sought treatment and been sober for a few months. I'm just curious if it's even gonna be worth the circa 700 dollars to apply for citizenship in a year and a half because of my misdemeanor charge, or should I just forget about it. Well this has been my journey since 2010.

Hey Kixini,

I think that DUI record will not cut you from citizenship when it will come to it, but of course, depends on the USCIS officer when viewing the records to see "how drunk" you were when you got caught. Just be honest when filling out the form (as it will ask about any criminal record/citations) and include the court orders (if there were any) or any other documents that shows what was your "penalty" and any record that shows that you followed up, paid, went to classes etc. I think you'll be fine though. Sorry to hear your marriage ended on a wreck! If you are really really really paranoid about it this DUI issue just don't submit things in 2016 but rather later, say 2018 or even 2020. Then you have more times passing by since your offense, and can make your case stronger that since your DUI, after all those years, you've been clean and sober!!!! But again, I can't bear enunciating that I think you'll be fine even if you were to apply in 2016.

Sok sikert! :)

AnotherLostSoul: Köszönöm :)

I wasn't "wasted" or anything, 0.11 BAC. Nah, not really paranoid, it isn't that super-important to me, I think my dad had one too a few years ago, and he had no problems getting his US Citizenship, but I'm sure every case is different. Yeah, I got all the records of the classes and from the rehab facility.

I'll try to stay out of trouble :)

TBoneTX: Sure thing, thanks!

@Kixini: Glad to hear your dad had something similar and he had no problem. Now, I'm even more certain you won't have any problems either. That is what I was thinking from the first time, just suggested to wait a bit more if you are very very afraid. But I thought you won't have issues, and now I am quiet certain. :) Yes, stay out of ALL existing troubles this planet carries on its back. ;) And just take a long your records (and a copy in case they want to file a copy) and you'll be all fine.

Szivesen! :)

Take care! And: HAJRA! :)
