Hello VJ guests,

I write to be furnished with information as how long would it take to receive NOA1 after a successful direct consular filling in Johannesburg.I have secured all the required documents to allow my wife, the US C to accompany me to file the said petition.

Anyone with experience in South Africa USA Consulate in Johannesburg?

I will be grateful to your input.

Kind regards,

Hello fftp.

Half way around the world (in Panama) I was told no more than 3 months, but from what I have read here and in other forums, it seems like it may take less. Not really helpful since I am not in South Africa, but hope it helps. :)

Nov-19-2010..... Packet 3 Handed in to U.S. Embassy

Thanks for your concern. What do you expect now? NOTICE OF APPROVAL? And what next?

Yes, I am expecting the notice of approval of my I-130 via mail.

I think what should come next should be the I-864 Affidavit of Support and maybe the DS-230 Application for Immigrant Visa. I have actually been asking here in the DCF forums for guidance on what to expect next, but no one has answered me. So it looks like we are both a little behind the tree on that one.

Hi ffp ,every consulate working in different ways. Some consulates provide or send in mail the NOA-1 (notice of action which states that ur petition is approved) within 3-4 weeks. But in India and in some other countries its different, they send directly Packet-3 which includes DS-230 part 1-2 ,DS-2001,checklist and Case number (NOA-1).

If u have already passed out 3-4 weeks after fililng ur petition then contact ur consulate by email and ask them abt ur status. I hope u will receive packet-3 after 4 weeks.Somebody from ur area can give u right idea.May be my idea will help u.

Good luck..

Hey Newbie--

My fiance and I are going through the Jo'burg consulate, too. (He's currently in Botswana) Ours wasn't a direct filing with them (we got our NOA1 & NOA2 from Vermont filing center in the States)- but right now we are waiting for his interview appointment. They've been great to talk to on the phone, so you may want to just give them a call and ask if there's been any progress. Sorry I can't be more help-- but at least know that there are others in the same boat with you! :)

Hi fttp,

Sarah and I recently got married, and were starting to file for our DCF. Just trying to see if you have actually made any progress yet in the Joburg office? I know it's cutting it close, but were hoping to move in January of 2012 (took us forever to get a date to be married to due the paperwork involved just to get married in the first place, only had to wait 10 months to get my work visa situated before we could get married)
