Okay. For the past umpteen years, I have said I am from Town X. However, I was actually born in Town Y. (same state.) My passport says Town X, which I will be using as my proof of citizenship. My birth certificate, which I have just sent off for in prep for later needs, will say Town Y. That is the only discrepancy; father's name, mother's maiden name will read the same, and I believe Town X will be on the certificate as where we lived when I was born, but Town Y was where I was actually born.

If I keep all documentation as Town X, how much of a problem will it be when they actually see my birthplace as being Town Y on the certificate at the next stage? Or should I risk an RFE and change my birthplace on the I-130/both G325A now?

Either way i think you will get RFE.....because they will require both passport copes and birth certificate copy at some stage.....either together or seperately........so I would say start procedure of getting it corrected in one piece......instead of whole bulk.....

So why list anything about Town X? I mean there must be a logical reason behind it yes?

Which is easier - changing all your docs to Town Y based on your birth certificate ?

Or changing all your docs to Town X - possibly based on Parental or Witness Affidavits and so forth ?

Also just so you know - in case it helps you plan out the answer to your situation - the Beneficiary does not need to submit their Passport Photocopy with the I130 petition. They will be just fine submitting only the Birth Certificate.

This may or may not help you - I suppose it depends on what decision you make (X or Y). But in my opinion it is easier to change all your docs based on your Birth Certificate than the other way around. Of course some research will clear up what route is best.

Going to make sure everything says Town Y like the birth certificate. Thanks all for your suggestions. Hopefully I won't have anything else pop up.. I don't think I can handle it. (and I haven't even filed yet! geez, what kind of basket case am I going to be while this is processing?)

i thought everything goes by Town X which is what is on your PP.

BTW iono if you live in Ontario, but JUST so you know, I LOVE TORONTO... More than chicago.
