Question regarding form i-751

my green card was stolen and I am in conditional permanent resident status. my conditional status expires in april next year. i went to uscis website to fill out i-90 to replace my permanent resident card but it specifically mentions that if your conditional status is about to expire don't fill I90 but I751. I called USCIS customer service and all they said that i can send them i751 as it would take abt 6 months to be approved and by that time I would be within the 90 days time frame. any help in this matter would be really appreciated.

I think right there USCIS is telling people who have a 2 year card that will expire soon to fill out the I-751 form to remove conditions and not a green card replacement form which some people might assume is what they need to do. Your card was stolen and you need to get a new one (plus you're not yet due to remove conditions) so this doesn't apply to you.

Fill out the I-90 form to have your card replaced and next year file for your removal of conditions 90 days before the date of expiration.

You can only fill an I-751 90 days before the date of expiration of your card. So you will have to fill the I-90 form to get it replaced. The 800 number that you called is often referred to as the misinformation line!

Yes. If you send your application even one day before the 90 day window opens they'll send it back to you.

Whatever you do, you need to inform USCIS about your stolen GC and file a police report.
