Changing the beneficiary’s address during K1 process

I am confused about how to change my foreign fiance’s address. We are expecting our NOA2 any day now. He is planning to come visit me for a couple of months using his tourist visa while we are waiting on this process (assuming the border officer at the POE allows him into the US). He’d basically be returning to Mexico when it’s time for the interview/medical things.

So, I guess we need to change his address to a trusted friend’s address in Mexico so they can receive his Packet 3 when it comes. I’d rather just change it to my address in the US, since he’ll be here with me and it would make it more direct…but would the USCIS have a problem with that? It’s not like he’d be here illegally, but maybe they would think he was living here permanently and it could jeopardize the process??

In either case, what is the process for changing his address? I read that we need to send a letter, but I’m worried that it might not get updated in the system before any important paperwork might be sent out to his old address. I was told that we can’t update it online. So, if we send a letter, should we also call the NVC or embassy, maybe USCIS also, and make sure they have the correct address?

Thanks so much for any advice!!

You will find it's very difficult to do this during the initial process.

Your best bet is to contact the embassy where it's going to and let them know the change of address of your beneficiary. Unless you can catch it at USCIS, NVC will be no help to you.

Umit had to do this - but Ankara used emails to notify us (and we downloaded all the forms from their site) - so it was not a big thing.

She did take an updated G-325 with her during the interview.

The embassy would not work with us till they actually got the package from NVC.

NVC said to contact the embassy... catch 22 :)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

I have a question similar to this... Currently I'm living with my parents but will be moving out by august 1st at the latest. I'm finishing up the I-129F package but there's question 14- foreign fiance's address when arriving to the U.S. Do I state my parents address even though we will not be living there, but I'm there now and don't know the address of where I will be come August 1st (Moving into an apartment, waiting on job change to do so)???

Any advice,so greatly appreciated!

Use the parent's address for now for fiance's address once arriving here in the U.S.? The government won't give a hard time about it being my parent's home and not having my own (yet)?

Your fiance will have a chance to list your new address, as the place she will be living in the U.S. when she has to fill out the DS forms for the embassy. You can change you address with USCIS online when you move.

They know people are moving all the time. No they won't give you a hard time because you have a legitimate reason and also people use their parents address all the time. I've also done it in the past.
