i thought it was an honest question. and based on your replies, it musta hit the mark somehow.

last i checked, libertarian isn't right wing, so that's not a valid answer either.

No, it's not a valid question. Are you kidding? Libertarians are right wing charles.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

My impression of Libertarians are from my own experiences. I was a Libertarian for almost a decade. Libertarians encompass a wide aray of political ideals. I left the party about 18 months ago because of what I now know as the Tea Party influence. I would go to rally's and symposiums about tax reform and there would be these 'RWN' sreaming "taxes are stealing, no more IRS" or some other absurd chants. Maybe that is just the Libertarians here in southern california, but in my experience, they are very right wing. Now, I do acknowledge that they do diverge from the standard republican dogma on occasion, but by and large, they are much closer to right wing politics.

Just because someone calls themselves Libertarians does not make it so. In my experience most people don't know what a libertaian is. If someone is right wing then they cannot be libertarian. They are two different things.

You better tell those hundreds of thousands of tea baggers out there that they aren't actually Libertarians, because a lot of them do think they are. I will agree that most people don't know what a Libertarian is, or that they all don't subscribe to the same ideals.

I do disagree that you can't be a libertarian and right wing politically as many libertarian ideals are in fact right wing. But Libertarians run the gambit from Nock to Chomsky.

but that chart shows they are not the same. they are more of an anything goes group, just my interpretation of it.

while my experiences with libertarians isn't as broad as yours, i don't think lumping them in with right wing is fair to either group. maybe a true libertarian is the ultimate liberal?

There are a lot of subsets or factions within the Libertarian party. There are some that are liberal, some that are conservative, and yet all claim purity of party.

A libertarian is one who wants the maximum personal freedom while having the minimum government intervention. A conservative is one who expouses traditional ideals. The two are not the same.

Why do you choose to describe Tea Partiers by the devisive term tea baggers? You lower yourself and discredit anything you say by using that term. It would be the same as someone calling any liberal a "dope smoking hippy". It does nothing to bring two sides together and everything to harden opinions.

Actually, calling them teabaggers is derisive, not devisive as devisive is not a word. Now to address your point. You are trying to force a square peg through a round hole here. Libertarians are not of one mind or ideology, there are many many out there.

Technically you are right. But in America Libertarians are lumped together with conservatives and socialists/progressives are lumped together with Liberals even though they are really not the same thing.
