I don't think all section 8 housing is located in ghettos. I've seen some nice apartment complexes turn into partial section 8 housing.

Indeed. I've seen some reallly nice Section 8 houses in wealthy / middle-class neighborhoods.

So have I, in Australia.

I'd use streetview to illustrate the new low-density government housing there, but some on here would ###### about the use of streetview. Apparently to these posters, talking out one's azz and basing posts on opinion is better than actual examples of places.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I didn't even know they copied the US Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 verbatim so that even the section numbers are the same. :innocent:

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

-Matthew 6:24

"Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.'"

-Matthew 19:23-24

"People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."

-1 Timothy 6:9-10

"Do not exploit the poor because they are poor and do not crush the needy in court, for the LORD will take up their case and will plunder those who plunder them."

-Proverbs 22:22-23

"The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it an unscalable wall."

-Proverbs 18:11

You need intelligence and ability and luck and the energy to strive for the way forward at all times.

Not many people have all those and so they will never succeed - but their efforts give Walmart etc cheap under - managers

Many times the hardest workers are the one who feel cheated when their efforts yield nothing

Work smart - don't work hard or you will be too tired to be smart

The way the system is setup here, it's almost impossible to get out of poverty in one generation, unless you are extremley lucky. Unfortunately that is not opportunity, that is simply playing the odds.

Many claim being on welfare for no legitimate reasons makes you a bludger and and leech. Okay, I will accept that.

The same folks then turn around and claim those working 40+ hours, with no health care, no retirement and no adequate sick or vacation time [4 weeks], are simply overspending. Okay, I will accept that idiocy too.

What I find bizarre is that so many who say this and think along these lines, are living a paycheck away from poverty themselves. In fact, many live in homes and drive vehicles that couldn't pay for the deposit of a house in the UK, Canada, Japan, Australia etc etc. Live a Q.O.L that most abroad ironically sneer at. It's just amazing that those hating on others, are by International definition living in poverty and losers themselves. We cannot accept that though, it goes against the indoctrinated belief that US is still the best, and the rest of the world sucks.

I am sure mocking me will begin soon, as it seems to be the choice of response to such news; or the usual get out, because we basically do not want anyone to hear the truth.

5. Millionaires All Drive Fancy Cars

You can get that idea of the rich guy in a fancy German car out of your head when you think of a millionaire: They actually drive a Ford, with the carmaker topping the millionaire preferred car list at 9.4 percent. Cadillacs run second on the millionaires' favorite car list, and Lincolns third according to onmoneymaking.com.

Car payments are an investment with little return, which is why someone looking to grow wealth avoids high-priced vehicles in favor of a more economical set of wheels.

Car payments are for suckers.

Here's a novel idea.... save money to buy a used car.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Agreed, but how do the millions of Americans earning minimum wage save up for a car? All while paying for rent, food, health care, insurance etc etc etc. Now the engine blows on their current car or they get sick due to eating corporate manufactured farm food, where does the $5k come from?

Watch that video. People get over their head with car payments on something that loses massive value. They even trade in upside-down cars.

The same way they are able to afford car payments?

You're someone who is earning good money, so naturally it all seems easy. How about starting from scratch, with nothing to your name and with zero experience or education? Basically on minimum wage.

Starting with zero experience or education would be tough - otherwise, I started here from scratch 7 years ago, more or less.
