I just saw a post in the IR-1/CR-1 section of the forums where somebody got the I-130 returned to them for not filling in an address for the spouse in the Philippines. I've filled out the 'address' my wife gave me, insisting that this is all they have, but it's pretty weak as an address goes. Just the family name, town, barangay and the province. They live in a very rural area with no mail boxes or house numbers. She gets mail I send to her, but she has to travel miles into town to the local post office to get it. It just seems the further out into the rural country side you get in the Philippines, the much less formal addresses get. Anybody have any experiences, good or bad, with an address like this while filing an I-130? I'm about to send my package off tomorrow.

My wife is also from a very small village on a small island in Samar and they have no house numbers or street names (there is only 1 street if you can call it that). I suspect that the person that you mentioned having their petition returned just left the house number and street names blank. I filled in both the house number and street name with "NONE" and had no problems at all. My petition went through without a problem. Be very aware of leaving bank fields because they think you just forgot to fill it in. Always fill them in with "None" or "N/A".

Good call, my wife lived in a VERY rural part of NE Mindanao and likewise had no street or house number for her home. I used what address she had and used up all the blank spaces on the forms. If I could not use the space, I put n/a.

Don't leave any areas blank or use n/a.

Thanks you both! I didn't leave anything blank...just put in the information I had and it will really just one large space for the address. It sounds like they'll take it though. Whew!

yes i listed town city and country and put n/a for the street address and they returned it so N/A dont always work

Ah, maybe if you also include the barangay and postal code as well, it will be enough. I hope that it is that easy for you to correct. I will find out soon as well.

A lack of a descriptive physical adress is a common issue in the RP. My wife lived in Negros Oriental on the side of the mountain in a nipa hut. For all things concerning her adress on paperwork I would always put see addendum. On a seperate sheet of paper I wrote a short explanation for lack of physical adress. Her baranguay did not have a post office or any type of government buildings. All mail which is few and far between goes to the local kalandaria called Lee-lings store. So I wrote that in the addendum, my wifes name in care of Lee-lings store, with the baranguay and province name. Never had any issues. The guy contracted by Air21 actually hiked up the side of the mountain up a karaboa path to hand deliver her visa. I don't know if you will get this kind of service when its your time, but I was impressed with this guys dedication to delivering the visa.

Very good answers here, and it was an issue we were afraid of too. My wife's mailing address on Mindanao went as far as the Purok. Nobody in the Purok had house numbers.

I think this might have been my first question on VisaJourney and nobody answered it. So we just waited and worried. I tried to get an answer out of the Philippines post office as to whether it was a legitimate address, and they didn't answer my email.

I sent several letters and post cards through the mail to see what would happen. One out of four was delivered: a post card. Two letters did not arrive, and one post card did not arrive. I sent a package by Federal Express, and it arrived fine.

The immigration documents and visa delivery all went fine.

Well, I just had a couple of thoughts about this. This may be an issue that's starting to show up because of the serious backlog at USCIS. I'm wondering if they've hired a bunch of newbies to pre-screen the I-130 packages and if the address doesn't exactly match the pattern, they reject it right off the bat. It could also be related to that intermittent 'Section C.' rejection a lot of people were getting earlier too.

Seems like a lousy year to be filing these...2009 looked good compared to 2010. Well, I'll find out soon enough...my package was delivered today

Not sure how it is done lately, but it used to be that you had to type in "NONE" and not "N/A" in regards to the I-130.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."
