Consulate Frankfurt /Germany

I was in Frankfurt on business the other day and had a look at the consulate, since i will have my interview there in about 3 weeks.

I saw that at the entrance, they separate people into two lines, one is labeled "Immigrant Visa", the other says "Tourist & Non-Immigrant Visa". I am applying for a K1-Visa, which is sort of a hybrid. I was wondering what line other K1-Applicants stood in at the consulate. I learned that technically, K1 is a non-immigrant visa, but all my correspondence with the consulate comes from the Immigrant Visa Unit. Also, I imagine that the "tourist visa" line is probably much longer, so i'd hate to stand in the wrong line for too long.

Any experiences with that ?

Back when I went there, I just queued up at the Immigrant Visa line (also because it was much shorter and I was asked if it was the right one... he didn't really seem to know/care) and I was let in 2 min later..

I just had my interview a couple of weeks ago, and they put me in the immigrant visa line. I had asked where to queue up with a K1, and that's where they put me which sucked, of course, because it was ten times longer.

Ahh that just sucks, I'm sorry.. I guess as K-1 we are hybrids - OP, ask one of the officers and hope he'll let you queue up at the shorter one

well i would say we have to use the immigrant line since in packet 3 and 4 they refer you to the embassy website to follow certain steps under immigrant visa....and thats where im going to stand tomorrow morning =) so lets see

and yes you are right, it wasnt bad at all...it all went fast and smooth and they all were very friendly...

oh btw i had to stand in the non-immigrant line after asking the officer standing outside =( so that was half a hour wait =( but well im done so i couldnt be happier =)
