having my teenage children write sworn statements?

I have 2 children 14 and 11 and wanted some opinions on what everyone thinks about having them write statements about my relationship with their step father as part of my proof of relationship.

I am referring to this:

5. Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties havingpersonal knowledge of the bona fides of the maritalrelationship (Each affidavit must contain the full nameand address, date and place of birth of the person makingthe affidavit, his or her relationship to the petitioner ofbeneficiary, if any, and complete information and detailsexplaining how the person acquired his or herknowledge of your marriage);

WOuld this be a good idea?

You may make affidavits. But I am not sure the min. age of the deponent who makes the sworn affidavit. It would be a good idea to prepare the sworn affidavit by somebody who are major.

Well I have many adults who are writing them for me but I thought that maybe the IO might like to see that my children are ok with it too being that they are older kids and he is not their dad. I just am not sure if it would hurt our case?

I agree with Loto that because they are minors you might not rely totally on their sworn statements as they can't be held legally accountable for them, however it might be nice for you to include something short from them talking about their relationship with their step father. Just don't count on this as one of your main proofs but as an optional addition to your application.

Thanks for the answer and yes it would not be my only proof just something from them saying how much they like him and want him here with us I have adult relatives and friends and my boss also writing them for me.

I have two kids 19 and 17 they are writing a letter not an affidavit, It is a nice touch since I didn't ask them to. I think a letter would be nice and have the same impact as an affidavit. Good luck to you!

Hello just wanted to add my two cents...I have two children ages 11 and 13 and they both wrote affidavits all in their own words..I have no idea if they took them into consideration but they gave him his visa..I don't think it would hurt at all.. good luck..
