Hey everyone!

I've been in the States for 3 weeks now and I got my welcome letter last week.

I have a problem though and was hoping someone on here could help.

I'm pregnant (due date is Sep 17th) so I should see a doctor like asap, but I still didn't get my SSN number.

Can I get health insurance without it? If yes, what's needed for it.

My husband is a US Army veteran. Do I have any rights on getting my health insurance through the VA, and is it possible to get it without my SSN number since I'm not sure I will get that number on time?

Thank you in advance for your time and patience.

Ivy

"I tell you good night with tears in my eyes,I wish I was there curled up by your side. Time passes, but not fast enough. I try to be strong, but I'm not that tough. When I feel your embrace it will be alright, but my heart aches for you on this lonely night."

If you get private health insurance at this point, its unlikely that it will cover any pregnancy related expenses. I don't know how the military health insurance benefit applies to families, but you may want to look at this: http://www.tricare.mil/mybenefit/

My husband to be is also a veteran and you should automatically go on his VA health insurance as his wife, this is what we have been told after we get married. Not too sure about your pregnancy cover though.

Divorced !st November 2012.

Married only 2 years 1 month

i think that in your situation, you can have benefit from your husband insurance.

also you can call 1-800-772-1213, from 7 to 7. this is the Social Security Office, i think they can help you in a better way than us.

and congrats for the baby you are waiting for :goofy: :goofy: :goofy:(F)

If you checked off on the Form, DS-230 to be assigned and SSN and have been here at least three weeks and have to received your SSN card, you need to go into an SSA office to see what is going on and in necessary apply for an SSN. Take you passport with the MRIV stamp. If you have received your Green Card take that as well. If you have a birth certificate handy also take that.

You most likely wont be able to get on his VA insurance if he is not service connected >100%

Spouses are not automatically entitled to Insurance.
