My husband and I just got married in the Philippines and he's back to the US now. How can he start with processing the CR1? Will it help him get an attorney for the papers or we can do it ourselves? And how long is the usual process time for the sposal visa? Thank you for you time. :help:

Kamusta ka!

You guys can start by getting all your papers together BCI, Birthcertificates, marriage license, then file the Cr1-ir1. From what I gather it will be about 8-12 months. They say spousal visa's take longer. I have not heard anything from my filing date yet and that was 2-24. Keep reading and looking for information on here there is a ton of information here. Paalam

Start reading and understanding the CR1 guide by heart so you and your spouse know what to do step by step.

You don't need a lawyer, as you can just do it by yourselves. Its a long and tideous process but if you fill out the forms diligently, Y'all be fine. There's no room for mistakes.

If you need further assistance we are here to help you along the way.

Good luck in your visa process!

Start getting your paper work together. NBI clearance, Police clearance if you have been abroad for more than 6 months since you were 16. 3 NSO BCs. NSO CENOMAR. Attend CFO and get a passport in your new name.

You can start by sending in the I-130 and documents to the USCIS. I used a Local Civil Registry certified copy of the Marriage Certificate instead of waiting for the NSO copy. Once the I-130 is approved you can follow the Cheng-lee shortcuts to shorten the processing time at the National Visa Center (NVC).

The VJ Guides will help you get the I-130 filed.

Naturalization

3/23/14 - N400 package sent to Phoenix

3/27/14 - N400 package delivered

4/3/14 - NOA1 receipt date

4/4/14 - check cashed

04/29/14 - biometrics date

07/01/14 - interview date

xx/xx/xx - Oath Ceremony

We weren't in a hurry to file the I-130 after we got married. Even after we filed the I-130, we weren't in a hurry to to take the next step to the other.

But we got approved so quickly. We didn't had any problems or whatsover when we submit the required documents. Like I said, just read the guides so you know the step by step of this process.

Good luck.

Like the others said, read the guides here and get the I-130 filed as quick as possible. It took 5 months for us to get through USCIS. Once you're through that "cluster" it goes fast though. Also start reading Ling Che's guide and learn it front to back while you're waiting on USCIS so that you're ready to kick NVC's #### when that time finally gets here  Good luck!! (I always forget that word's censored hahha)
