:help::help::help:

We received a letter from USCIS telling us:

You submitted form I-693, Medical examination and vaccination record. however, the civil surgeon certified the exam more than one year before the date the applicant filed form I-485. The form must be dated within a year of filing form I-485.

My wife just have her medical exam back in the Philippines last april 2010. have her vaccination her in the US last june 2010. We went back to the Health Dept. and they told us she need to undergo another Medical Exam. It is confusing . We told them that she just have her medical exam this year. they said call the USCIS and go back here and tell us what they tell you. We called USCIS they said that she need a current vaccination. we told them she just have a shots last june and he said(uscis)that's our system say your I-693 is not current. So, we are confused. Please help us. Any similar situation?

the health dept told us she need to have another set of vaccination this september... do we need to do that?

Your timeline has not been updated so I am going to assume a few things.

Your wife's medical exam she received in St lukes is valid for 1 year only. One reason it is important to AOS as soon as possible once POE in the US. If you filed for AOS within 1 year, a second medical is not required. Unfortunately, many USCIS doctors do not know this or are trying to get a few more $ from patients. If you file within 1 year, all you need supply (MEDICAL WISE) is a completed I-693 vaccination supplement report.

Your wife received SOME shots at St Lukes (like my wife did). She most likely did not get ALL the required shots. So when your wife arrives here and before she can AOS, she needs to go to a USCIS doc who is SUPPOSED to simply review her shot record, give her what few shots she has remaining (my wife needed 3)and sign the form. You send this completed form with your AOS paperwork.

The health dept is not the approval agency, only a USCIS doctor can tell her what shots she needs. Is there a approved doctor at your county health dept? There were none at my county health dept, so we just kept the receipts and showed them to our doc who signed our forms. Our AOS went well and were approved in a few months.

Hope this helps

This is a case for your Representative in Congress and your two Senators. Do a search on the forum for other people in this situation--at the POE, your medical exam has to marry up with your AOS package and sometimes that doesn't always happen.

You can fork out the $$ and get a new one done or try to contact your Congress people to fix the mistake. Good luck!
