I love the US, don't get me wrong. I'm very thankful that I had the opportunity to be raised in this country. But I just honestly do not understand what the big deal is about living here. I don't understand why some would go to such great lenghts in order to live here. How can someone be so selfish? Economic stability, maybe?

I am an immigrant myself, and while I am thankful for all the opportunities I've been giving, I also worked damn hard to be where I'm at. I went to college almost for free for example, but the scholarship wasn't exactly just handed to me. I worked really hard to earn it.

I think some people think that all their problems will be magically solved by living in the US. I don't think they realize that absolutely nothing is easy. Money doesn't exactly fall from a tree. Even foodstamps or welfare don't come easy, you first have to apply and qualify.

So, honestly, is it worth it?

If she does have HIV, she should try immigrating to Brazil instead. They'll give her free health care and free medication for her disease as well as amnesty for illegals coming up in 2008.

The US is not going to be kind to those who think it is a free ride.

He will find out after you don't pass your medical so there is no sense in making a 'joke' out of it any further.

Oh and guess what sweetheart? You'll need a medical for any family based visa. So good luck.

I saw my brother-in-law pass away from AIDS. Your death won't be a joke. It's actually pretty nasty.

Nothing is cheap here, specially medical care.

Everytime I go to my doctor's office, no matter the reason (for example: pick up x-ray results), I have to pay $20 AND I have medical insurance through my job. My parents only pay $5, but they also pay over $600 a month for insurance.

LOL yeah it's free...... you just have to wait in line for about a week until a doctor shows up to tell you if they have the medication you need. But hey, it's free! hehe

Funny how free medical here only works well for people that have money to pay for insurance.... it makes me wonder....

Thank god for my insurance!!

Majizee,

You've just crossed the line.

Either you're serious and were trying to deflect what would've been a barrage of negative posts or you're trying to make a joke about a matter that isn't funny at all.

At this point, it's best that you get help--in either case.

Hehehhe yeah, I lived next to the biggest public hospital in Sao Paulo, and when I needed the doctor... I went to a private hospital and paid the big bucks! Hahahaha yeah... in the public hospital they injected my friend with medication that made him have a seizure... and this was treatment for a seizure! They thought it was a muscle spasm and gave him a relaxant...morons!

I was once told when I was in the Philippines...if you have the money, go to the private hospital if something happens because if you go to the goverment ones, its ok if you die. Doctors use those ones to learn and then move to the private ones.......hmmm
