Police Checks?

Is it possible to apply for this from the local police station at any point or are we meant to wait till we get the packet?

I had to get a police background some years ago and i remember it took over a month to come through.

Im thinking if i do it now it will save some time when my I-129 is sent on to the UK............What you think?

As far as I am aware you have to apply to New Scotland Yard, I think there have been people who have gone through their local police station but at the end of the day they only give you the form to apply for your police cert from New Scotland yard. You have to have the official documentation which only they can give. Hope this helps
