Does any one know that how long it takes for the green card to arrive in the mail after you arrive here at POE and also same question for the social security card? We filled out the option in the visa application(DS230) that SS should be assigned and mailed by the SS administration automatically. My wife arrived on Aug 8th, but still waiting for both in the mail.

Well my husband arrived the same day and we haven't even recieved a welcome letter but you can take her to the local SS office and it one in 1 week or so and she has her green card number stamped in her passport.

Hello RabRiz,

My wife had Visa interview on same day as your wife.

My wife's POE was Newark, NJ on 14th Aug.

Even we had filled option of mailing the SSN Card in the the DS-230 form to our mailing address.

Still, there is no welcome letter or no SSN Card after almost 2 weeks.

I am thinking of waiting for one more week and then applying for SSN @ Local SS Office.

Please do keep us updated about your progress.

I hope your wife is adjusting or adjusted to US.

I know mine is :)

You should receive the welcome letter about 4 weeks after POE and a week after that you should receive the Greencard. As for the SSN, don't hold you breathe on that one, we waited 3 months then went ahead and visited the SSN office and received about 7 days after filing.

things are back-logged or slowed up now.

after entering, you have to wait either 2 or 3 weeks. if you do not get your SSC in the mail by then, go straight to the SS office and request a new one.

the GC can take over 1 month. wait for 30 days for the welcome letter. if you get the welcome letter they should be working on sending the GC. if you don't get the GC after XXXX amount of days after the welcome letter you have to contact USCIS to see what's up.
