Keep in mind, the tap water will be no good once the power goes out.

I live 800 yards from the mighty Columbia river. There is both a McDonald's and a Wallymart between me and the river so I realise I will have to fight my way through the zombies.

I have two 303 Lee Enfields, and an AR-15 with 3 spare mags, a Glock and 2 Ruger pistols.

I only have to use 2 of those most days when I am looking for a cheap T shirt at Wallies.

slim - I actually have my own supply my great grandparents lived through the depression. my great grandpa started the planning many years ago incase a depression (or some disaster) happened and we had to live off the land. my uncles have gone so far as building things like showers that collect rain water. we have a lot of land in the middle of nowhere that has been set up for just in case situations. growing up I always thought all the crazy projects were silly, but it's all quite impressive really.

eta: I've already promised HAL & AJ a spot (back when AJ had the looting thread) if they can get there so I can't take anyone else

Sounds like you have the hardware... now, do you have the software? Are you trained to engage zombies? Do you have enough ammo?

The big difference during the depression and what we're likely to face with a TEOTWAWKI scenario is people back then banded together and helped each other out. While we'll see that happen too, it won't be the first thing that happens. Plus, they still had power and almost all their infrastructure. We'll have very little of either. Plus, we have a whole bunch more people now and those people are, questionably, of "lower moral character" than our grandparents and great grandparents.

It's interesting you added "I can't take anyone else." Are you prepared to "stop" folks from coming onto your property and taking what they want?

I have my eye on a duck shooting raft... It is easy to steal so I will anchor it in the middle of the Columbia and keep my zombie meat in aluminum containers (converted beer kegs)under the raft as the water is very cold.

It will be good for shooting any ducks that the zombies have missed.

I expect some zombie bodies to come floating down from Canada so i will have a hand harpoon to retrieve them. That will save going ashore and inviting attack.

I have researched a device to stop the zees coming out in their boats >>>

Good point but I learned from the beavers about under water escape hatches

I have scuba gear and oversized lead boots so I can simply slip down the escape hatch and walk along the river bed to the city park toilets.
