Waiting for I-864?

I'm working on a CR1 for my wife. I paid my fees online for the Affidavit of Support 3 weeks ago, and was told to wait for a letter to file it. Yet, immediately after the fees cleared my bank (2 days after paying), I was able to download the cover sheets I need for all future mailings to the NVC. How long does it usually take to get that letter? Or am I supposed to download the i-864 and just sent it in?

This process has been so confusing, since the instructions have been clear as mud. I'm so thankful for this site.

You do not have to wait for the package. All you need is the barcoded cover sheet that comes with your payment confirmation and then you can download the I-864 from the internet and send it today! There is some confusion because the process has changed with the online payment process. You used to have to wait for them to send you a barcoded package but now you can just print it off online. The barcode is the thing you need. Good luck!

As long as You have the Barcoded sheet printed out, send out the Aos package. This process can get confusing at times :P hang in there

Yeah, I made that mistake too. My wife and I nearly got divorced over the argument about the whole darn thing. LOL

So anyway, on the bottom of your 'receipt' for the Affidavit of Support fee, there should be a smaller, lighter shaded font text that says something along the lines of "Once you've paid your fee, go back a couple of days later and check to make sure it says 'Paid' instead of 'Pending', at that point you can print off your cover letter and send in your I-864".

So the part that got me was the font. It looked like some stupid disclaimer that noboby really bothers to read and so I didn't bother to read it. Ergo, my wife threw a fit for not reading the whole darn page and I reminded her that I had encouraged her long ago to learn up on the immigration process which she couldn't be bothered to do.

For those that are curious. Case completed June 25, 2010 awaiting interview. Oh, and no, I have no intention of updating my timeline unless I happen to get a letter saying they changed their minds about the whole K-3 process...not likely ;)

While waiting for a response, I called the NVC and they told me. Needless to say, everything was filled in, printed out and in the mail within hours.

My wife is currently here in the U.S. for another 5 months - she's Canadian, so crossing isn't an issue. I just wish we could do her interviews here in the states, instead of trekking the family up to Montreal.
