From http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html, it is stated that for translated documents, translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the:

  • Translation is accurate, and
  • Translator is competent to translate.

I don't know how that is going to be done because where my wife lives, the translation are done at the minister of foreign affairs.

The translator put a stamp of the agency and sign on it. This is how it done. Is that going to be an issue if there is not statement

from the translator? Did anyone had an issue with that?

On my translation. there also just was a stamp from the translator. No statement. But if in doubt, the embassy should be able to look up the person as a certified translator.

Alles wird gut und wenn es noch nicht gut ist, ist es noch nicht vorbei.

ours had a stamp too(translated through ministry of affairs),it was this huge stamp that was a form kind of thing, and was signed by the chief of translators there and has the translation date on it,and there is a faded part of it that i THINK states the translation is true to the origin, and then we got it notarized in Egyptian notarization offices and then in the US embassy, but i don't think you should worry, cause it's a government place that translated it to you,so it's most probably certified, and just so you'd feel confident about it,maybe see one of the members from the same country and ask them what they did and if they faced problems doing the same :) Goodluck in your journey
