it varies, based on queue load at NVC

but

IF I were in yer shoes, I'd find out exactly how NVC schedules the interview (what time frames) for yer consulate,

then try to get all shovelled in, about 2 weeks prior to that 'scheduling week'.

I would like to know how you find out how your specific Embassy schedules or accepts scheduled interviews. Is there a place somewhere here to figure that out?

how long after we receive this bill is it finally over? that they get all of my paperwork and everything and it is officially finished after that?

Once the bills are all paid and the documentation is complete they will tell you it takes another six to eight weeks for the case to be completed. Recently, most people have been getting their SIF and case completes in around three weeks. Then, the second week of the month they select cases from the case completes to set up the interview at your respective country's embassy. The number of cases they select is dependent on the country you are applying to. If you get selected, you should receive an email indicating the date of the interview, and several weeks later your beneficiary will receive a package from the embassy. If you don't hear by the end of the second week of the month, then you will be put into the pool for the next month. I talked to two different people at NVC and they told me that getting the interview set up can take a few months to a few years, depending on the embassy. There is no time limit for this step, unlike the previous steps of the application process. Sometimes you can get this step expedited, but generally they only do that for life or death situations or medical emergencies. To do the expedite you email NVC with ATTN Supervisor Sue as the message title. The message should explain why you need the expedite, and NVC will forward that to your embassy. The embassy then decides whether or not to grant the expedite, but again there is no time frame given for their decision. Just as an example, the people that heard last week should have their interviews in October. Anyone who did not hear will be put into the pool for the November interviews. I hope this helps.

I would like to know how you find out how your specific Embassy schedules or accepts scheduled interviews. Is there a place somewhere here to figure that out?

I always suggest to 'call NVC, get a Human, and inquire'

You would think, though, yes? There's a table of this data somewhere, on the internet. Beats me, really.

If you do find out from that phone call into NVC, it would help other ppl if you posted something over at http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Brazil&cty=Rio%20De%20Janereiro

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

No expedite at all. I called today and they said here is your case#. I gave them both emails and an updated phone#. She said check your email and there they were 3 emails for my 3 cases. I printed them off and logged onto the payment portal both bills were generated one for 88.00 and three for 404.00 it said I only had to pay the 88.00 once since the cases are processing together. I paid all fees and am now waiting for the paid status. I am guessing I will send my I-864 and my DS-230 at the same time also. Accept I need a PCC ans one original document from my wife. Better get on that today. :D

***just in case you missed it***

Just got off with NVC Supervisor that told me " No can Do" But she did say that I could call the Embassy in Chile and ask them if they can schedule an interview and if they contact NVC they are more than willing to send my docs... Hmmmm!!! :bonk: :bonk:

Darnell I wrote an email to the embassy in Chile yesterday, I received a reply a few minutes ago... here it is...

Unfortunately we cannot provide you with an earlier interview until the case is received in Chile. Once the NVC schedules a final appointment, they will send physically the case to Santiago, and upon receiving it, we can expedite the appointment if possible.

Sincerely,

Immigrant visa Unit
