I'm just sending my husband's DS-230 tomorrow... But after reading all your recent posts, I'm beggining to lose all hopes that my husband will get a November (my birthday, my husband's birthday, our anniversary, oh, and hoping for a month vacation from work) interview.... :crying::crying::crying:

Would've been the 1st time we'll spend our anniversary together, and just like that, *poof* it's gone..... Wanna see my husband soooo freaking bad, my poor baby, been a year since she saw her father..... :crying::crying::crying:

Well the good news is your young. The bad news is I am not. So this process is taking a large percentage of what life I have left... Where is the humanity in that!!! I just hope one day I can return the favor...

Why is it taking so long to get your letter? Just tell your husband to write the letter and bring it to his commander to sign. Maybe the JA would want to look over it first but I can't see it taking a week if he asks them nicely and tells them what it's for.

Oh, he did ask them nicely! He asked his shop chief who said he'll take it to the commander. And we did write it and it just needs a review and a signature but it has been a FFFFF week... :( :( :(

@Tom: no, we haven't send the packs yet. We are thinking of doing it on Monday... You really think it would be no problem to send the e-mail afterward??:bonk:

I would not delay anything. Send it when you have it. I dont see it being a problem. Its not the best as sooner is always better than later but you can only do what you can do. I think your hubby needs to speak with the chief and let him understand your need for expediency... Good Luck...

None of us knows when we will die, so I don't think you can say how long you have left. You can go to a cemetery and see all ages represented there. The whole immigration process is ridiculous and is in dire need of an overhaul. Besides, how is keeping spouses apart important for national security? This is family friendly?

I was told by NVC that having a case complete by the second week of September would give us an October interview, but now I'm told that the whole process of granting interviews is not that straightforward. I wish they had been more open from the beginning and not given me hope where there is none. I think I would do things a whole lot different now after all that I have learned this past year.

After reading Darnell's post about begging for an interview I called NVC. After waiting on hold for forty-five minutes I finally got to speak with an operator. I begged her to add us to the October interviews and she said it was not possible. She explained that during the second week of the month they pick a certain number of applicants for ea

embassy. The exact number varies by embassy and is

apparently a closely guarded secret. I told her that I checked the packages sent from NVC for September and that no packages went to Tunisia, so does this mean that the number of applicants picked for Tunisia was zero for September, and she said that she is not allowed to discuss that with me. She said once they pick for the month, that's it. No exceptions unless there is a life or death situation. So, I said, then I can expect an interview in November? She said no, there is a specific number that get picked each month and if you don't get picked in September it doesn't mean you get picked in October. I asked about December and was given the same story. I said ok, what is the upper limit on waiting for the interview? She said that for this stage there is no set time limit and that some people wait for many years before they get an interview. I am abbreviating the conversation here to save space, but this went on for quite a while. Finally I asked to speak to a supervisor and got exactly the same response. In the end they told me that the interview step has no time limit and can go on for a very long time. They couldn't even estimate approximately how long the wait will be. I told them that I talked to the embassy in Tunisia and they told me that they were not a busy embassy and that once NVC releases the package that they can move things quickly. However, NVC says that they will schedule it when they will and it doesn't matter what the embassy told me. When our time comes they will contact the embassy and make the appointment. The supervisor at NVC said I can write a letter to NVC and request the interview with the embassy and NVC will forward the request to the embassy, but without a life or death emergency it was unlikely to be granted. And there is no set amount of time in which to expect a response to this request, so it can also take a very long time.

I have been thinking for a long time that this step would be the easiest step and after having these discussions tonight I am just so incredibly disappointed with the whole process. Every step is needlessly complicated. I know I am being impatient, but really what is the point to making it so hard to bring your legal spouse to live with you?

It is totally ridiculous not to be able to even give you an estimate of when and if you are guarantee an interview. It's cruel and insensitive. I mean you are told you can call the embassy to see if they can give you an accommodation but hey they can do the same and.... that's their job! Oh well I'm not calling the Embassy to stress myself further I hope, pray and trust that God is in control. I pray the same for you all that are waiting on this long process!!! Have a wonderful weekend all!!!

ug.

please, never EVER wait for NVC to send you 'blank forms' or any 'instruction packet', until after you've finished with sending in all yer forms (caveat: exception: NVC Electronic Processing)

have a read on this mini-how-to - I hope it clears up much -> http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/221785-ds-3032-slowdown/page__view__findpost__p__3560467

basically, since you've 'dipped into the NVC pot' - you really should be prepped as much as possible, with the forms -

DS-230 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

I-864 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3730.html

General NVC stuff - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1335.html

fwiw, payment on AOS and IV is not a serial process - it sorta runs in parallel -

the AOS is visibly first - but

the IV comes up when the DS-3032 is added to the casefile, so

if you wished to delay the AOS payment, it has NO EFFECT on when the IV payment 'shows up' on the online payment portal.

I know for most people, it does APPEAR to 'be serial' - but if you study the NVC flowchart, you'll see where these things are really 'in parallel' - is two seperate processes, running quasi-concurrently.

Whew ! Let me know if I cleared it up for ya, or if it's still a mish-mashed pile o poo ? (But do copiously study the content on those links, first, before answering back?)

i actually sent the ds-230 to my husband already

and it is filled up and part I is signed with other documents that's needed. i haven't received a confirmation that they have my ds-3032 and it's been 9 days now...should i resend the ds-3032 thru email? one more question, as soon as

the AOS bill shows that it is paid then we can go ahead and send the I-864 even if we haven't received any instruction from the NVC?

Bypass the shop chief and go straight to the commander's secretary and ask for it to be signed ASAP. The secretary can give it a once over and if he's not a douchebag commander he'll have no problem signing it off that day. I know mine would.

reading your reply, I get the sinking feeling, in the pit of my stomach, that you didn't understand what I wrote, and didn't review the content of the links.

If nothing else, please read this one --> http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/221785-ds-3032-slowdown/page__view__findpost__p__3560467 and map out 'yer plan' on paper.

Well the good news is your young. The bad news is I am not. So this process is taking a large percentage of what life I have left... Where is the humanity in that!!! I just hope one day I can return the favor...

Young, I guess that's true.. And also because of that, my husband missed all of our baby's development.. didn't hear her first word.. didn't see her first smile, step.. Humanity? NADA! This process is definitely taking its toll to everyone.. patience, money , understanding.. some I read, even to their relationships.. I hope we all get through this alive.. and stronger!

I hear yah, hammer.. they're making us suffer with this waiting game and false hopes.. and to think almost half of my paychecks go to taxes, they should be working as hard as we do!!! I spoke to my husband last night, I think I'll go back to not caring (or just not too much) mode.. less disappointments.. I slept it off last night (plus the fact that i was extremely tired from work :bonk:), so now I think I feel better.. maybe..

Kim its all perspective but trust me mine has changed from when I was in my twenties till now. I agree that this process does not accomplish much other than job security for the Homeland Security Worker. I certainly dont feel more secure... and I dont see much going on behind the scenes with regards to security either.

The one thing I do know is that we will all get through it eventually in spite of them... no good, low down, dirty rotten scoundrels...:yes:
