My daughter has a priority date of March 15, 2001. She had the interview already but the consul asked her to bring back a form I-797 Notice of Action. I guess what they want to see was the one that says " your petition has been approved." I can't locate that form and I wrote them a letter and had my daughter print out something from uscis.gov that say her petition was approved but they didn't take it. She was told she could get a letter from the NVC stating that her petition was approved. I called the NVC 5 times and none of them wanted to give me a letter. Pls. help. Do I need to consult a lawyer now?

Is possible to get a new approval notice, but you must pay for it. Can't remember the form number - lemme look it up -

you'll need the I-824 - see http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=dd153591ec04d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

fee is $340.00 usd.

Good Luck !

(oh - if you don't want to pay, suggest you scour all, to find it)

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

omg! am also in f2b cat and i cant remember my dad recieving that approval letter. Is it really needed? How come some of the person i know was never asked for this approval letter?

When visa is approved it takes 7-10 working days for them to deliver it at your home address.

just a quick question, is your daughter have a derivative beneficiary (son/daughter)?

Yay !!! for punishment for having sloppy filing system, must make 18 kg of noodles this weekend, give away to the homeless shelter in your area.

Congrats on finding it, though.

Before you mail it out, please make 6 photocopies and start a new filing system.
