Timeline

If you mean the separation, all of us have had a hard time dealing with it.

I was fortunate enough to live only 2 1/2 hours away from my fiance at the time we were going through the K-1 process. We saw each other every weekend, but even the week days inbetween were torture for us.

We spent a lot of time on the phone and on msn chat, etc. when we weren't together, but that is no substitute for being together in person.

Hopefully, your process will go quickly and you'll be together forever soon. I can hardly even remember what that was like now.... I have been in the U.S. for 6 years now.

I know how you feel, all too well. All you can really do is to remind yourself that it will come to an end, it won't be forever. I wouldn't wish it on anyone! :)

Try to distract yourself. Fill up your time with other things. Don't know what else to offer other than that you aren't alone, and it will get better!

Yea, stay focused on the gathering all the documents, prepare yourself for the next steps and you'll soon find that time has past by and before you know it, you're at the end of the journey..

The anxiety helps keep you focused, and thinking about what you need to be prepared for.. Remain active on this forum, lots of really good people here with a real desire to help others through this and excellent place for emotional support as well..

Best wishes on your journey.. Stick arround..

I don't know, I found this forum to be helpful and also harmful. Paranoia breeds paranoia, and obsession obsession. I found it surprisingly difficult to be involved in this invasive process, and I found people here who were also paranoid and that fueled it all. I was so worried when he used his AP that he wouldn't get let back in to the country. I was so worried when we weren't getting an interview letter (our local office was just the slowest in the country those months).

I first came on here when I had an emergent paranoia... his biometrics letter didn't say anything about his travel documents, we had had fingerprints taken and they didn't update the AP... would we never get the travel documents? And when I asked here, first people told me it was our fault and we should have asked them to update the AP at the biometrics appointment. I was so angry... how were we supposed to magically know? But, as it turns out, everything was fine and they don't need fingerprints for the AP. Got upset for nothing.

And a week or so ago I was trying to help correct something and someone here told me that I had committed fraud and that ICE was going to be at my door and that I was going to jail and that I was a horrible person... even though I did everything legally (The forum mods deleted those posts and told him he was wrong, bless them!) but the whole thing was very insane.

I am not free of guilt of giving out misinformation myself once or twice either, in an attempt to "help." (although I never abused anyone).

So on this site, you'll find lots of good information and advice, but also bad advice and misinformation... though things usually get corrected in the end.

In all, my husband's journey went fine, just a bit slow because of our local office. No RFE's (I did all the paperwork myself before finding this site). He used his AP woth no troubles, and our interview lasted about 2 whole minutes and we approved on the spot. We were clearly approved before the interview and I had done all of this worrying for nothing.

And here I am still, my husband's green card is approved, but I still worry... what next? Can I prepare for the next stage better? What will happen if X, Y, Z... which is something I will have to overcome.. hopefully soon I will lose interest :)

So all in all, try not to obsess, and take it easy. It's a weird process... but it will happen on its own slow timeline. I wish you good luck!

AOS for my husband

5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Right on the money!

Remember, people here can only comment on what the law says(letter, not spirit of the law) and about their own cases, BUT, your case is UNIQUE. There really is no such things as "standard" or "average" when it comes to immigration. Once you feel you are about to lose it, look at your SO and remember all the reasons behind this process.
