NVC: docs are copies and not originals?!

So right now I am really REALLY upset! we sent originals papers for everything but seems the people in the NVC consider my birth and married certificates are "copies" ok... here is the thing, RENIEC the office in Peru that provides this documents dont give you "originals", they provide you a "certified copy" that is exactly like the original in some cases the birth certificate is a scaned printed of the original itself.... they dont give anything else no special paper NOTHING so this is! a certified copy with teh stamp and signature in the back....no more, but the NVC office wants an original that doesnt said in the back "this is a certicate copy identical to the original" what can I do now??.... we just sent an email explaining the laws and all that but can avoid feeling crappy cause ths only mean more delays... Monkeyhubby just said "patience" and i reply :"grrrr! "...

I hate to wait, any peruvian outthere who have any experience with this?

and to make it worst I am feeling fat! a fat monkey!!!! I wanna cry....

Based on your timeline, I think you submitted your originals to USCIS in response to your RFE.

If yes, please read below:

USCIS is supposed to return your originals back if the original documents submission is part of RFE request - as per I-130 instruction. Since you are dealing with bureaucratic department, they 'might' forget it as well. You can call USCIS to return your originals and submit the completed form G-884 to request it back.

Ok, try to calm down because everything will be ok. Did u read on NVC website, what type of documents they are asking for, based on country reciprocity ?

hmmm that's always a hard situation.....

can you send the cert copy with a note expalining?

if you sent certified copies (with signature on the back of the documents)

then --

call into NVC, get a human, explain the situation, and then

ASK FOR A SUPERVISOR !!!

then ask the supervisor to request an 'eyeball review' of the documents - tell the supervisor that the 'attestation statement' is on the back of each document, and who ever is reviewing the documents is clueless for what they are looking at.

Try it on Thursday - you might be surprised with the results. I can't say it's 100 percent, each and every time, but it does work, this 'request an eyeball review' , on occasion.

Seems that all the documents they require are originals ... they say that in the request.... notarized copies I dont know .... i gave them certified copies and they say they want originals... maybe is just my luck who knows...

Monkey- I would do like Darnell suggested and call the NVC and tell them to look over the documents. My documents will be the same, I'm sure.

Question: Where did you get your Antecedentes Judiciales from? Just wondering because yesterday when my husband got his penales (jr. car....), they told him to go to Miraflores.

I hope this all works out for you. You'd think that NVC would know the country specifics for each country.

I did the "Penales" y "Judiciales" in the DISCAMEC office, located in San Isidro , (maybe ur husband will wonder cause thsi is teh place where you go to request the permission to carry guns, but believe me you get this papers here sooner than u expected and the place is nicer tahn just go by Abancay or Cotabambas ave.) anyway to get the "Policiales" they sent me to the station in Aramburu cause seems is a document I need to use in other country they do like a simple dental record and your finger prints.... it was also fast i went one day by 5.30 nad get it next day fast...

Yeah, we did policiales a few months ago but they aren't needed anymore. I told him about the place in San Isidro and he said he had heard about it. I don't know where you are from but for him to get there by bus would take a while (he lives in Lima but in El Agustino). Are they only open until 12 like the other places?

Oh ok... I work close by San Isidro.... so was convinient for me, if your husband lives in El Agustino I will say Abancay and Cotabambas are definitively closer..

And, no, this office is open till 6 pm, they also have a little Banco de la Nacion office here in case you need to make the payments (oh! and dont forget the copies of your payments I dont know why but they request copies)

nah - notarized copies usually not 'fall in that definition' -

and a 'notarized copy' definition actually varies much, by country.

the bottom line?

it's either (pick 1)

original document (or)

certified copy of original document (certification must be issued from the original issuing entity)

plus

a regular photocopy of each document.

if yer submitting a DS-230 into NVC , strongly suggest to review all 7 pages of DS-230 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html as civil documents requirements are covered there.
