My mother is the petitioner for my 3 brothers. She is receiving SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFIT (NOT SSI) since 2 years ago when she reached 60 yrs. because she's a widower. Her Social Security benefit is not taxable, so this brings her income low on her Income Tax Return. Now, my question is, can my mother include her Social Security Benefit as part of her income? or should she just put what's on her W2? which is not enough because the income from her W2 is coming only from her working part time. Correct me if I'm wrong, SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFIT is NOT considered a "means-tested public benefit", right? I am helping my mother fill out the form but I am really confuse if her Social Security Benefit is considered SSI? Please help and thank you in advance. God Bless You.
