but on the other hand, do we really want a national ID tattooed on our foreheads?

how about a yellow star pinned on our chest?

hmmm what about the RFID chip implanted? i remember a time when people threw HUGE fits about that little deal, yet now just a few short years later it is implanted in your passports. (those of us who dont have it will all have it by year 2020 if we want to continue having a passport).

so there's a trade-off ... personal freedom, or tracking every 'citizen'. "1984" should be mandatory reading for kids but in soem schools is banned... wonder why? :innocent::whistle:

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.

That's a good one. Ben Stein is dead on. That's one reason I'd like to have the USA have a National Identity program. I know many people don't like it. I've yet to have heard any compelling argument that demonstrates how our rights diminish from by having it. Social Security and state issued driver's licenses are defacto National identities now. I agree. Issue national ID cards to everyone here legally.

Nah, just driver's license/identity cards, social security cards and birth cerificates for starters.

How could possibly go through the legal immigration process without any legal documentation?

We'll just use the honor code from now on.

Yeah I know, any attempt to fix the problem makes us all Nazis. We all know your an open border type so your opinion is moot.

Any attempt to circumvent our constitutional protections undermines our freedoms. Stuff that feather in your hat and call it macaroni.

There is nothing unconstitutional about protecting our borders regardless of what you might think. I also doubt very much if a national ID card is unconstitutional. Making the claim and proving it are two different things.

Ah, the devil is in the details. You want us all to start providing documentary proof of citizenship just to go about our daily lives? And you see nothing unconstitutional about that?

Nope, not at all. I would be proud to show my ID card whenever asked. Right now I have no problem identifying myself now and I wouldn't if we had national ID cards. You just want anyone to be here for any reason and you are hiding behind a pathetic manufactured outrage over any attempt to regulate the lawbreakers.

what benefit is there in having RFID? so govt can keep all your info in one place, your entire family tree, even your blood type on a handy dandy datebase (as well as on the chip in the NIC)... why would you want that, for what purpose? other than to have a big brother society.

excuse me if i'm not willing to have all my info in a govt database becasue you're too lazy to keep track of your own info.

and just because people misuse their SS# isnt a reason to give away rights of privacy. SS# is for income purposes ONLY.

driver's licenses vary from state to state, they are in no way a "National Identity Card" as you are craving, though they can be used as proof of ID.
