11/09/09 - received I 797C in mail (extension for a year)

11/16/09 received letter for fingerprinting

12/04/09 - FP appointment Done

marriage certificate

joint bank account statements

rent leases

pictures

baby birthcertificate

car insurance

blue cross insurance

tax return

water, power , cable , phone & internet

i dont think the congressman can do any good , i contact them about

2 months now and they cant tell me nothing constructive yet.... :crying:

if you are planning on applying for citizenship, I suggest you go ahead and do that (assuming you are eligible) and when your N-400 is about to get approved, you will be able to get the I-751 adjudicated.

if you are planning on applying for citizenship, I suggest you go ahead and do that (assuming you are eligible) and when your N-400 is about to get approved, you will be able to get the I-751 adjudicated.

you think i could do that without any problem of denied or whatever.

Absolutely - many people who were still waiting for their I-751 to get approved and became eligible for naturalization have taken that path. If you are interested, you can post a question in the citizenship forum regarding this solution.

The extension is granted for only one year from the date of expiry of the temporary green card. How do people manage beyond the one year period since it is required to have had 3 years of GC before applying for N-400?

You can schedule an infopass and get your passport stamped with an I-551 stamp which extends your status by another year.

Essentially if the I-751 is pending approval, what it means is that you attempt to get a I-551 stamping in the passport as extension. I guess they would stamp on a case by case basis.

Correct - but someone in this position would certainly qualify for such extension. Some members reported that the officer complained about people requesting a stamp while they had a valid extension... they just don't want to work!
