Hello guys and ladies,

I'll like to know if it help when the petitioner goes for the interview with the beneficiary. Also how do you inform the embassy that you'll both be attending the interview.

Thanks for your help and time.

I believe that ONLY the beneficiary is allowed to attend the interview and in some cases having the petitioner attend may affect his/her chances of actually getting the Visa. Although I'm not 100% sure on this, I have read something on a simlar case a while back.

Good luck!

Not true. We've applied for two different visas over the years and I went to both interviews with my husband. No extra explanation required, I just showed up at the Embassy with my passport.

Did it help? I don't know. All I can say for sure is that I was there.

They say at some consulates it does help, but we don't know what consulate you will be going to since you don't have a timeline. Since you're in the UK regional, we assume you mean London. So for London, I would say it doesn't help but you are welcome to attend.

I can only recall one time in the 3.5 years I've been on VJ where a USC was prevented from entering with their UKC beneficiary. There was no reason anyone could figure out for that, and the next day a USC reported being allowed to enter. I went, and although it was only for moral support, it was appreciated.

Chloe,

With all respect intended, this question was asked on the UK forum, and we have to assume that there is a reason for that. Not every consulate is alike, and unfortunately your information on this was very incorrect. (Assuming he is going to the London Consulate based on the fact he/she posted in this forum). Please be very careful when giving out advice if you're not 100% sure. You could seriously effect someone with good intentions in a very bad way.

There's a section on the checklist where you can indicate if there are others (like the petitioner) attending the visa interview, I believe.

When Nik's interview was coming up we sort of waffled on whether or not I would make the trip over there, and Nik called the extortion line to ask what the process was (since he had said no other people on the checklist). They said we'd need to send an email and gave the code so that we could have something in writing to get the door-guys to let us in.

I didn't end up going, so we never did email or try to get in that way, just wanted to let you know what the process was supposed to be for that case.

I was on my husband's appointment letter, but in practice they have allowed the USC in with just a passport. If you can be on the letter, though, that's just insurance. :)
