My wife will need to do her medical exam in the next month or so. What doctor would you recommend for the medical exam in Rio? Also, is the gynecology exam the only step that can be taken before receiving the interview letter?

Thanks

she could get her vaccines, then just take her vacination record with her to the medical exam

here is the link for form 693 so you can see what the dr will be filling out

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.

I had to do a gyn exam called "papa nicolau", which I can't recall the name in english. It is the one to see if you have HPV, women generally do it yearly. I did do it earlier then the whole medical exam, but each doctor will have a specific time frame, like mine didn't want one older then 90 days. Call the doctor you intend to do the medical exam, they generally tell such details.

My husband went to dr. Duarte in Rio de Janeiro. He had a great experience there and found the staff to be very helpful. I know several other VJ members liked him as well. I believe the the test you are referring to is the PAP smear in English.

Yes, a GYN exam is required. Called to the doctors office and they requested this exam.

that seems a little invasive requirement becasue i saw on the medical requirements somewhere that an "external genital exam" was required and i was like #######??? but you're saying they require "internal exam"... seems overboard on our govt's part demanding that.

i didnt do multi-quote but wanted to address the comment pap is yearly thing... that is only a yearly thing for people who are at risk.

i'm wodering if the internal exam is not required now that they do not require HPV vaccine ... i'll see if i can find that statement i saw on their site and see when it was up/dated becasue i know 100% the one i read said EXTERNAL cause even that shocked me. what do they need to do taht for on an immigration petition!

page 2 shows the changes re: HIV, HPV and zoster

page 3 shows they test for syphilis... guess that's why they do the pap ... but i swear i KNOW 100% in the last couple days i just read they only require external exam. still looking through my links

one benefit of k-visa, vaccines can be done at AOS stage instead because of the "nonimmigrant" status of K visas

http://www.uscis.gov/files/nativedocuments/revision_cdc_tech-instr_civil_surgeons_i693.pdf (see page 10)

test for syphilis from CDC website... it is blood test, so PAP would not be required

ok that only took forever but here it is:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3745.html#_What_should_the_1'>http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3745.html#_What_should_the_1

"The physical examination will include at a minimum: examination of the eyes, ears, nose and throat, extremities, heart, lungs, abdomen, lymph nodes, skin and external genitalia. "

"Note: The medical examination is not a full and complete physical examination. Its purpose is to screen only for certain medical conditions relevant to U.S. immigration law. Although in the course of the examination, the panel physician might uncover other matters related to your health, the physician is not required to examine you for any conditions except those the U.S. Public Health Service specifies for U.S. immigration purposes, nor is the physician required to provide you with any diagnosis or treatment. As such, you should not consider this examination to be a substitute for a full physical examination, consultation, diagnosis, or treatment by your primary health care provider."

this is a nice info page for medical FAQ:
