How to send Expedite Request through Congressman

Hi All,

I saw in some posts that people have sent a request to congressmen to expedite the USCIS process. Its been over 4 months and I'm still waiting for my NOA2. Just wondering what ist he process to reach out the congressmen. Who should you ask for and what should you ask for? It would be helpful if someone who has done this can share their experience.

Also can the same be done for NVC process?

If you have certain reasons for an expedite than you would qualify but just generally you are not past the processing time and they will most likely just tell you to continue to wait.

Assuming that you are a US citizen, the timeframe is curretnly 5 months.

First of all, you're well within the timeframe. It can take up to 6 months to recieve an approval/denial. For some it even takes longer.

Second, check if you qualify for an expedite. And then... try calling your congressman/woman's office and find out if they even DO this for you. Some say they can just inquire about the case, and others will ask for an expedite for you. Our congressman wouldn't do it and just explained to us that we'll have to send a letter/email to USCIS/NVC explaining and asking for an expedite ourselves.

So it depends on the congressman.

You can always try to apply yourself, which will probably faster and keep you in control.
