Sherrod refused the job and wants to spend time with her family. Sherrod also said that a suit will probably be forthcoming with the blogger that started this but would say nothing else.

Its a shame she isn't coming back.

Lets be honest, it's hard to go from "15 minutes of fame" back to government worker.

I can't see where her lawsuit would bring much cash... she (and her Husband) already have a successful track record of suing the Gov for big bucks... she should continue with that gig.

The consulting job she took allows her to bill the government what ever she wants. AKA: Paid off.

There were willing to give her much more power and from what I had understood she had lost a family member and wanted to spend more time with her family.

Now I didnt know about this, do you have details or links?

Civil suit

After Sherrod and her husband lost their farm when they were unable to secure USDA loans,[65] they became class action plaintiffs in the civil suit Pigford v. Glickman. The Department agreed to a settlement in which compensation was paid between January 1, 1981 and December 31, 1999,[63] in "the largest civil rights settlement in history, with nearly $1 billion being paid to more than 16,000 victims."[63]

A federal law passed in 2008 to allow up to 70,000 more claimants to qualify,[63] which included New Communities, the communal farm in which Sherrod and her husband had partnered. In 2009, chief arbitrator Michael Lewis ruled that the USDA had discriminated against New Communities by denying a loan to the operation and extending more favorable terms to white farmers.[61] New Communities received a $12.8 million settlement that included $8.2 million in compensation for loss of farm land, $4.2 million for loss of income and $330,000 to Sherrod and her husband[71] for "mental anguish".[68][70] Sherrod was hired by the USDA in August 2009 as the Georgia director of rural development, the first black person to hold that position.[61][63]

330,00 for mental anguish wow! So she was compensated twice for the same claim, not good.
