Hey everyone.

So my questions about the I-134 come from the co-sponsor and dependents living in the house. I don't meet the income requirements alone so I will be using a co-sponsor to get my fiance to come here. Would I have to fill out a form or something to indicate that I will be using a co-sponsor? Or would just submitting 2 I-134 from me and one of my parents show that we are co-sponsors?

The second is about dependents. I have read some forms about it but I'm not really sure I fully understand how it works. But my co-sponsor would have to cover all the dependents in the house and my fiance? So if that is the case, I have 5 people in my current house (not including my fiance), but only 1 is a student who goes to school away from home. Would my co-sponsor have to cover my brother, my fiance and them self or just them self and my fiance?

Thank you in advance and I hope that I can get this straightened out so that this process goes well for me.

For the I-134 is there is no combining of incomes. A sponsor (cosponsor) has to meet the income requirements for their household plus the intending immigrant. Typically that household number is the number of dependents claimed on their most recent tax return plus the sponsor.

The petitioner is always the primary sponsor and completes the affidavit of support regardless of income. The cosponsor also completes an I-134 and includes all needed documents.

So if I was a dependent last year because I was still in school, but now I am not, would that make a difference for how much my co-sponsor would have to make because I know that they need to make a certain amount for each person who is a dependent to them? This is just hypothetical because I'm not sure if I was considered a dependent on their last taxes. Thanks for answering the other questions though. I really appreciate the help.

I responded to your message via PM.

If the cosponsor claimed you as a dependent on their most recent tax return (2009) then the CO will likely include you in their household count.
