Just tell her the truth, that it is starting to become a problem for you and find out if she has a phone or not. If she does have a phone, I would just politely ask her to please use her own phone from now on, unless it is an emergency, if she does not have a phone, I would politely ask her to only ask to use your phone if it is a necessity, until she can get her own phone and it has to be kept to a time limit. You may have calls coming in for yourself or your family that you have to get, and if she is on the phone, you woud miss them, that is not a lie...right???

I agree with snz1802 - remember she isn't 'treating you like this' - you are ALLOWING her to treat you like this.

No doubt once you tell her what's what and make a stand she'll get all offended like its YOUR fault - you know the type - be strong - tell her how you feel and if she doesn't like it - well - you have enough friends, right?

As someone who used to be quite shy I can understand where you're comming from! Assertiveness takes time but with the amount of awkward people out there it's a nessasary skill.

It is hard for me to tell people no. I would simply say, "sorry I am waiting for an important call today". The next time don't answer the door, and the next time as some one recommended earlier, go to the door with the phone attached to your ear. The battery is dead is a good one too lol. Do this long enough she will go elsewhere for a phone.

Guess you could simply say look I need my privacy, if you have an emergency and need the phone I don't mind otherwise we can't keep doing this everyday.

I had a neighbor always wanting a ride here or there, after a few "I can't today" she left me alone haven't seen her at the door since last fall.
