Yes. If poster behavior is not judged by TOS alone, then we end up with an arbitrary set of rules that change on moderator whim.

If existing TOS is deemed inadequate, by all means change it and publicize the change.

Of course I don't know the intentions of the people who suddenly decided to play the game of that thread. I do think maybe there is something going on there with people who don't get along. But if we can ban people from threads because we don't get along with them or like them, that's weird to me. If they are going against TOS repeatedly in a thread, then sure. There are people on here I wish wouldn't interact with me as well but I don't know about this whole thing.

Then surely a polite warning would have been more in order, a quick run down of the rules and a request to stay on topic?

I can see too how it could have been construed as an attack. However, I myself came across it and thought what was going on was funny. Let's face it, OT has been depressing as hell lately and I bloody needed a giggle.

It was direct. For clarification, 5 members that do not post to this thread, posted within 20 minutes of each other. It was coordinated or gang-up by default. Clearly not necessary, but fully within the parameters of the TOS.

No, it wasn't direct. You made a passive aggressive insinuation that there was some sort of 'gang-up' in that thread. Thank you for clarifying it. However, There was no such thing, despite your accusation. There was a lull in posting in OT, so I thought it could be a fun thread. I read the first 10 pages to look for some sort of directions, or at least some pattern that would suggest what the rules of the game were. There were none, so I went forward. There were no insults, nothing that violated TOS, just trying to have some fun and participate.

But apparently, the normal posters in that thread don't want anyone new to post in there, and the moderators validated their desire for a private thread.
