And still only dissmissal and no rebuttel.

Maybe because its not as simplistic as you're dead set on concluding without having an accurate historical record?

I was watching every day. I saw the day to day back and forth. Never, not once, did they change a bill to suit the reps. They did however have back room meetings with the blue dogs to get them on board. I am still waiting for one example of them changing or watering down a bill to gain rep support. TBH I am thinking of the health care bill but if my memory serves it still holds true for just about any other major bill congress has passed since Obama took office and before Brown was elected. Just give me ONE example, just one, and I will admitt that my black and white statements about the blue dogs and the dems does have some grey area to it.

Here's 6 Republican ideas in the Health Care Bill, February 8, 2010.

Senator Brown was sworn in to the Senate on February 4, 2010.

Senator Brown was elected to the Senate on January 19, 2010.

The health care bill already had Republican ideas by the time Senator Brown was elected.

Ok, I admitt it, there are a few token rep ideas in the health care bill. But you have to admitt that they are few and far between. And since it didn't get any GOP'ers on board they could have taken them out without losing any support. They left them in on their own accord. So it seems they thought they were good ideas in their own right. That hardly qualifies for a compromise that watered down a bill and made it less effective.

Few and far between on legislation that is bound to draw opposition/obstruction in the time span of one year. How many bills has Congress passed since Obama's inauguration? Filter out how many of those bills have passed without any serious obstructionism.

Compromise is not only giving up one's ideas in favor of others- it also includes good-faith efforts at bringing people to the discussion- but all the GOP has done is whine itself into the label(s) they've earned.

This is your statement that started this off:

And here all this time I though Obama was letting his more liberal fan base down due to so many attempted compromises with Republicans that were not interested in compromising for the good of the nation. I guess I was wrong then. [/sarcasm]

My original objection to this statement stands. Obama didn't need the GOP. He didn't need to compromise for the "good of the country". He did have to compromise with his own party however and could have ignored the GOP all together. To try and lay blame on the GOP for a loss of Obama's liberal base is just wrong. He lost his liberal base compromising with the blue dogs.

The liberal base is another side to the game, yes. One that is objecting to the compromising on a matter of content- and when faced with the alternatives, they'll likely side with Obama again, so what's the fuss?

Ironically, the Blue Dogs sided with Obama, so deal with it. That's Washington for you. Now I hope that when all this stupidity with Republicans and Democrats in November dies down, a single payer system can be hammered out. That's a very long shot, and I most definitely doubt that the GOP will have any interest in helping common Americans in favor of their wealthy backers, assuming IF they win sufficient seats in Congress come November.

Feel free to object to that as well.

I have zero faith the reps will give us single payer. I guess you misstook my anger of the blown chance the dems had for anger with our conversation. Discussing our differing political views is just a diversion for me, nothing more. My anger is reserved for the pin-heads in Washington that blew the one and only chance we had for the forseable future. I will not vote for a single incumbent this year because of it.

Fair enough.
