well don't get TOO excited, people. I just got the email from USCIS requesting more evidence from us. I don't know what they could POSSIBLY need that they havne't requested after FOUR months of NOTHING. I'm soooooooooooooo bummed.

Just gather up whatever they want, overnight it to them... and I'm sure you'll be approved within days after them receiving the info... stay positive.

Thanks, locito. I AM grateful that they are at least working on it! But bitter that they waited so long to ask!

It seems silly but we've known all this time that they aren't even looking at files until they're ready to approve/deny them.

Stay positive...it's probably nothing big. As the person above said, overnight it to them and you'll be approved in no time! :)

hloo, congrats on the touch! I know it was an RFE, but as others have said, just send it all back ASAP, and your approval should be waiting around the corner!

On a postive note, as least this way, you KNOW 100% that someone has looked at your file! It will probably be approved quickly after receiving the info back! If you read an ex-adjudicators thread here on VJ, he said something to the effect that when they get RFE info, they have a separate pile for those, so it's not like you would have to sit around waiting for months more! :)

I'm happy your file has been looked at!! Praying for a speedy RFE reply for you!

You're all right!! It just takes perspective...I had it in my mind that we were getting our approval so the RFE was a slap in the face. Yesterday I would have been overjoyed for an RFE. But I know you are all right. I just hope that whatever they are looking for isn't tough to get. Anyone have ideas what these usually are? I've already sent a million photos with explications, phone bills, bank accounts showing the travel, etc.

That's extra stuff that they wouldn't send an RFE for. Did you send passport stamps or boarding passes to show you have actually met? I realize photos seem like great proof, but they are considered secondary proof, not primary proof, as passport stamps are (either you being in another country, or your fiance(e) being in the US... not sure if you're the guy or gal!), so if you didn't include that, it could a possibility.

Or, if either of you have had a previous divorce, they could need a certified copy of the divorce decree, I've seen some people get RFE's for those.

Proof of citizenship can be an RFE... you need the birth certificate with your parents names on it, not the shorter version.

Really, it could be anything at all, those are just a few I've seen around VJ!

Don't fret until you get it in the mail, unless you KNOW what it is... just get whatever info they need together quickly and send it back :)

Good luck!!

I'm really hoping we won't get an RFE. I was so careful with the forms. I even included my entire passport scan along with my birth certificate just in case something was wrong with one. We have passport stamps, bank statements putting each other in the cities on the passport stamps,I even had the manager of a hostel we shared send a receipt with his name and reservation with my name on official letterhead putting us in the same room. I also included airline tickets we booked in both of our names and 15 date-stamped photographs. We don't have any police records or previous divorces.

Naturalization Process (FINALLY!)

05.29.14 - N-400 filed

06.02.14 - Packet received at the Lewisville Texas Center

06.05.14 - Check cleared

06.04.14 - NOA date

06.13.14 - Biometrics letter received

07.02.14 - Biometrics appointment

07.07.14 - In line

07.17.14 - 'Yellow Paper' date

09.10.14 - Interview scheduled NOA date

10.15.14 - Interview date

10.15.14 - RFE (missing documentation)

10.21.14 - RFE response received in NYC facility

11.04.14 - Oath ceremony scheduled, approved!

11.19.14 - Oath ceremony (8:30am) in Brooklyn - Completed! DONE WITH USCIS!

I also included both his and my birth certificates; I was not advised about the passport, but that's no big deal to photocopy and mail. We have no divorces or police records either so that's not it. Proof of citizenship would be the birth certificate I'm guessing...Oh well...no since it trying to figure it out. They'll tell me.

You didn't need to include the beneficiary's birth certificate, just the petitioner's. The beneficiary shows theirs at the embassy stage. I was talking about my stuff (the beneficiary).

....right?

EDIT: I just double-checked again and yes, that's right. Phew. You scared me for a minute.

Definitely just the petitioner! We didn't include my birth certificate, but I have the long form ready for the interview. If England has a "long form" (I'm not sure they do... my fiance lost his BC from England..), but if they do, it's generally the one the consulates want.

gap1, I know it may not be worth much, but for what it IS worth... I highly doubt you'll get an RFE. You seem even more meticulous than me (haha if only my family & friends were reading this, they wouldn't believe such a person existed... I'm bordering on crazy haha) and we didn't get one. I think it's just a matter of days for you now :)

I got my NOA2 last week 11-8 and have been calling NVC (which is a pain because its always busy)... the automated system said it hasn’t received my file yet. So I waited to speak with an operator just to make sure and he just told me that my file has already left for the embassy! I was shocked… I almost don’t believe him. Has this happened to anyone else?? Have any of you recent NOA2 people called yet??

I know we didn't need to send his birth certificate; we did it just in case. The frustration is DEF getting to me!! Not suprised about RFE; we're doing this on our own and the advice given was always mixed and confusing. I know that we won't see each other until he moves which won't be til probably March, and we haven't seen each other since June. So it's devastating to think of. I just want to send what they need and move on. Like we all want to.

It's really dumb that the call centre employees can't tell you what the RFE is for, but I'm guessing it's so that they don't have to give advice about it, argue with people, etc.
