Yay I'm on the list! Unfort the office in Chicago was closed on Monday so my package only arrived on tues, the 12th. But hey, at least it's there! I hope I sent everything in right. Now that I am in the country and married I found I paid less attention to detail hahahaha.

See profile for our K-1 Visa/AOS story from 2010-2011Apparently we love USCIS/NVC so much we left and are doing it again! This time giving IR-1 a whirl. Rock on immigrators.

03/24/2015 AOS payment accepted by NVC

04/09/2015 IV payment finally accepted by NVC after the set the wrong fee and took weeks to correct it.

*many more delays thanks to the agency processing my fingers prints to the RCMP and the post office losing our mail*

I feel the same way too! Except that I woke up last night, panic attack, freaking out about RFEs, about whether or not our AOS would be denied, what would happen next... I am so scared that they'll think Chris does not have enough proof of financial support and just deny our AOS. Hopefully they'll give us a RFE instead... And then the medical part... Gosh, let's just hope things go smoothly...

I'm just stressed out because our reception/cookout is Saturday and there's SO MUCH to do, I don't think I'll make it through in one piece! And Chris might have to work tomorrow  ...

Enough rambling, it'll all be just fine, right? RIGHT?

I'm sure you're reception will go fine! I remember the day before the wedding (I planned it all, a complete full wedding hosting 70 people on a private island) and it was the craziest experience but was so great even the things that went wrong didn't really bother me until a few days later hahaha. I can't wait to get pics from the photographer to post for everyone.

I am looking forward to the EAD to continue getting EI and look for work, but more for AP by Dec so I can go to a friends wedding and also home for Christmas since both my husband and I were deployed last year. Can't wait till I get my first confirmation! Just to know it's real hahaha.

We went and applied for my SSN card yesterday. I was finally in the system but they had my name wrong. They have it as both my first name and middle name as my first name. How retarded is that? You'd think with all the paper work we did, they would get my name right. The guy said it wasnt a big deal to him so he processed it anyways. Then the printer wouldnt print out a recite, so he told us he'd mail it to us once it let him print it. Hmm alright. He said I should have my card in 7 - 10 days. So hopefully we get it without any problems

Life is like a roller coaster. Hold on tight and enjoy the ride!

Yeah, just drive up and say "I'd like to activate my K-1 visa". They'll send you to secondary and then they'll take the enveloppe. I mean, I flew so it might have been different... It's really nothing to worry about. At this point, it's pretty much said and done. Just be prepared to wait...

So we had our reception/party on Saturday and everything went GREAT! We had such a good time! My brother and sister-in-law were here, and it was great to have family around and be able to show them where I live. It all worked out fine! It was weird because as soon as the party started, all the stress just vanished! I'm still a little hungover I think, but was it ever worth it! Americans sure know how to celebrate!

Hope everyone is doing good! I'm still waiting to hear something from USCIS about my AOS, but I'm not gonna start stressing about that just yet. I have to go to the bank with Chris still, so he can put me on his account. It's hard because he works all the time.I think I might be too late now to just get the license without having to take a test. I shouldn't have waited this long... Oh well, just another complication!

Take care everyone!

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to check in, I haven't been able to spend to much time on the puter lately. We have been having some rough and happy times at the same time. Our aunt had passed away unexpectedly last week..She will be deeply missed, in the mist of it all my Shower was planned to happen this passed weekend and we continued on with it because that's what our aunt would want. My mom showed up and surprised me at my bridal shower. I was shocked! It was planned for 2 months, I had no clue at all..It was a very nice surprise in the mist of everything else that has been happening. Our aunts memorial is going to be on Friday. Still have some planning to do for the wedding, which is right around the corner. We are very excited, but wish our aunt could be here to celebrate it with us at the same time.

I'm glad to hear everyone is doing well and are enjoying your new lives with your loved ones!

Can't wait to start my AOS process with ya'll.. I might need some help with it when the time comes. I haven't really had any time to even go through it yet. I did recieve my SSN in the mail last week tho. I didn't have no problemos!

Love,Peace & Chicken Grease, heh

J & J

I am sorry for your loss J&J.

I know what that mix of emotions feels like. A month ago Clay's grandfather passed away and was put to rest the day after my bridal shower. That night and into the day of his funeral, Clay's cousin went into labour and gave birth to a baby boy. What a roller-coaster! My lesson learned was how important family is, both old and new.

Vero, I'm happy your celebration was a hit! We'll be having our BBQ this Saturday. My mom, sister and best friend are flying out to support me. I am soo excited. Just praying for sunshine in Fresno (:

Other than that I am STILL waiting for my SSN to be sent in the mail. I am trying not to stress...

Got the same today! Glad to hear your reception went well. I know exactly the feeling you mean about the second it starts the stress just vanished haha.

I applied for my SSN in my married name but was denied. The woman was pretty dumb saying I cannot have a SSN in my married name until I receive an approved greencard. She asked how long it takes and I replied "the website says 6months to 3 years"... she then said I will need to leave the country when my I-94 expires and contact USCIS about re-entering. I told her I was very familiar with the process and do not have to leave if my I-94 expires (I was getting annoyed because she was saying a bunch of other unintelligent things hehe) and said it's complicating but I know what I can and cannot do so am not worried... then I explained once INS confirms that I am recognized in my married name and not my maiden name I will come back for a name change... kind of annoying because I waited until after the wedding to apply for this reason. I hate it when government employees know their government less than a foreigner...

At least it's not like Service Canada in Ottawa where you have to wait an hour or so to be helped... the room was empty and I was in and out in 15 mins haha. Not to mention every time I have paid for my SIN card at home I never received it.
