So clearly everyone here has gone through (or is going through) the K1 visa interview process. Maybe this was answered already, but this thread is huge. So my question is, for the K1 interview in Montreal, do I just need to bring the I-134 affidavit form from the petitioner? Does the I-864 form come into play only in the AOS stage?

Hey statesbound, This group have been together forever we are now just finnishing our ROC stages. To answer your question, back when i was in the interview stages for the interview in Montreal I just remember doing the I-134 and the I-864 was for when you do your AOS. It's been awhile since I've done it though and not sure if things have changed since then. WIshing you the best in your journey it's easy peasy after the interview stages :) The interview is easy peasy too !!!

Statesbound, I just looked around some and it seems to look like it's still the I-134 you had in for the Interview in Montreal.

I agree with you all; I'm so glad we all stuck together through this, it has kept me sane and grounded. I hope we stay in touch, I know I will! After all, our journey is not over! Naturalization is right around the corner ;)

So we are going to Canada on the 17th and I just looked at my passport and apparently it expired in Nov. Does anyone know if that will be a problem at the boarder? I can't believe I forgot that it expired this year. I could just kick myself!

Life is like a roller coaster. Hold on tight and enjoy the ride!

Yeah we made it there and back no problems. We thought about renewing it while in Canada but we didn't have time. Seemed like we had something to do all day every day we were there.

Merry Christmas/happy holidays everyone.

Glad you were ok! I've always been asked for my passport, but it's good to know you can do without apparently lol! When you renew it, you'll have it for 10 years! I renewed mine just before that changed, I was kinda mad! 5 years on mine.

Happy New Year everyone!

The first time we crossed after we did our AOS I gave the guard my passport and green card. He told me I didn't need to show my passport anymore, the green card is what they want to see. I have always brought both anyways just in case the next person wanted to see them both.

Glad I will get a ten year passport this time around. I have having to renew things.

Dunno if any of you will see this post...you've hopefully, happily all got your 10 yr cards and are now living life in the US without the worry of dealing with immigration issues! I, however, am not so lucky...thought I'd share my experience in case someone else is having the same problems.

Here it is now April 2014 and I STILL haven't got my card after filing end of March 2013 - re-did fingerprints back in November, heard nothing, called in December, again in January (both times was told they were 'working on it, still within the 1 year timeline...what?? what happened to 6 months???), had an info pass meeting mid-Febrary (they said someone had my file as of February 12 and to be patient), and here it is April andddd nothing!

I'm currently on hold for an immigration officer with USCIS, we'll see what they say today. Good lord, sooooo frustrating!

Very sorry to hear about that, Brenda. Have you heard anything yet? That's just crazy of how long you have had to wait, I'd be so upset. I hope they start working on it for you, it's not fair for you to have to wait this long, when all you have done is everything right since the beginning. Other then Immigration problems... I hope you had a wonderful Easter!!!

Wow that is insane! I'm so sorry you are going through this still. Someone needs a kick in the butt over there at USCIS. Hope everything gets moving for you.

Aw thanks J&J, mandaNchris! Sorry, haven't been on in a while, just so sick of the whole thing...

So here's what happened - once I finally got through to the immigration officer he said he would submit another inquiry and that because it was the third inquiry I'd made they'd probably just spit out my 10 yr card...what??? My other option was to email the uscis ombudsmen and report my situation/complain...so I did that too, and voila, one week later I got an RFE to get a criminal record history pulled in light of the fact that my fingerprints suck/won't match.

So I did that...interestingly enough they do have to take your fingerprints to get your criminal record pulled but for some reason they seem to know how to do it, andddd it worked! Mailed in my rfe evidence May 8 and on Friday May 30 I got my congratulations/approval letter saying my cards been ordered and should be here in 60 days. Thank god! My 1 yr extension expired May 23 so I was getting a little stressed!!
