Hahaha, ours is still up! Is that bad? It just smells so good!!!

Yeah, house hunting, both fun and frustrating! You're absolutely right though manadaNchris, we're taking our time... I just wish we could find one soon, but patience is a virtue, right?

I know, 2012!!! I don't like thinking about time passing by, makes me depressed!!! Do you guys have goals for the new year?

I have to quit smoking and buy a house, that should be enough!

Good luck with both quitting smoking and finding a house. I hope you succeed with both.

Well this year has started out really bad. I hope we can recover from it.

Thursday Feb. 5th I got a phone call from my sister telling me our dad is in the hospital. No one heard from him for two days, so my aunt went to check on him and found him passed out on his floor. She didn't know much at the time but said dad was responding and she'll keep me updated. Friday morning at 10am my sister calls and tells me that dad is on life support and we need to get to Canada asap they don't know what is going to happen. On the way to Canada we get a phone call letting us know that the doctor said there is no hope for dad and they will leave him on life support until Chris, Alex and I get there to say goodbye. We were also told that my aunt is now in the CCU because she had a heart attack due to stress.

We got to Canada at about 4am. Chris and I went in to say bye to dad and a little while later we told the doctor to take him off life support. He passed away Feb. 7th :'( We had to figure out how to do his funeral with no money because he didn't have life insurance and didn't work. We decided to have a viewing Thursday Feb. 12 and hoped that my aunt would be out of the hospital by then. Friday the 13th we held a grave side prayer and then went to a church to have a get together for everyone. Alex was sick and started screaming because his ear was hurting him so I had my brother in-law take us back to his house so I could give Alex some medicine and hope he would fall asleep so I could go back but we ended up waking Chris up and we decided to leave early to go home to Georgia. We made it to Ohio and got in a car accident.

We hit black ice slammed into a semi truck which threw us into the guard rail. We hit off the guard rail and spin around a couple of times, hits the guard rail again with the back of our car which threw us the other way around and we landed with the front end of the car in the guard rail with the back end in the fast lane of the highway. A sensor tripped and all our power to the car was turned off. So we were in a black car at night blocking traffic without lights. Yeah I was scared out of my mind. Luckily no one was hurt. The truck didn't stop at all. A couple people stopped to make sure we were ok and Chris had called 911. Police show up write Chris a ticket for not controlling the car and then the tow truck showed up. We asked him to drop us off at the nearest hotel and we had Chris' mom and step dad pick up a car carrier and meet us at the hotel to bring us home.

We got home at 12am Saturday night/sunday morning. So it has been a horrible week for me and I thought I was going to have a mental breakdown but I didn't. Now we just have to figure out what to do with my car. If we should make a claim with our insurance or not. We are hoping if we do make a claim they will total it out and we can buy the car back to sell it for parts. I don't know if our insurance will do that or not though. Probably not with the luck we've been having. I'll see if I can attach a picture of our car.

Thanks J&J. It has been awful but I am so very thankful that we all are ok. I don't even want to get in a car again right now but no choice there if we want groceries lol My dads passing is going to take a while to heal from. It's even harder being so far away from my sisters and mom but I have Chris and Alex so that is good. Alex has an ear and eye infection and a cold. We took him to the doctors today to get him some meds. Found out he needs to have four shots at his next wellness visit, so that should be fun.... not! Maybe we are just getting all the bad stuff out right away and the rest of the year will be good.

I hope you guys are having a good 2012. What is new with you all?

Vero how is house hunting going and quitting smoking?

Oh my God!!! I can't believe everything that you and your family are going through right now... Are you OK??? Gosh, I'm sending all thoughts and prayers your way, and hope that through all this grief you can find a light and that things will get better. What a shitty start for 2012 though... Was your dad sick or is this completely out of the blue? Is your aunt feeling better?

What about your car situation? Does Chris have another one to use for work or was this one it?

mandaNchris, I cannot begin to imagine how hard of a trip this must have been... (F) My condolences (F)

I'm alright. I'm just thanking God that we didn't get hurt in the crash. My dad had sclerosis of the liver from drinking his whole life but he stopped drinking over 9 years ago when he almost died from it. So his liver was bad but he was doing fine. He got a cut on his foot that got infected and he didn't get it checked out soon enough. He died of a staff infection. So it was unexpected. I didn't know about the cut and infection until I got the call from my sister.

My aunt is doing good. They put her on some medication and told her to keep her stress level down as much as possible. The viewing was hard on her but she got through it.

Chris called our insurance yesterday and made a claim on the car. We don't know if they will fix it or not. Chris has to call them back tomorrow. Luckily we have a F250, his mustang and the motorcycle he bought to get to work and back. Gonna suck using the truck for grocery shopping because its a gas guzzler but oh well what can we do eh lol.

Thanks for the condolences and prayers.

That's so true, it would have been horrible if anyone would have gotten hurt in the accident. I'm glad you're OK. Stay positive, now you have an angel looking down on you and your family.

Keep us posted, ok?

Well now all three of us are sick. Last time I got a cold and was stressed out it turned into phenomia. I hope it doesn't turn to that this time. I don't even want to think how much that hospital bill would be.

The insurance company is sending someone out to our house to look over our car and determine if it's fixable or not. Not sure what day they are coming out but I hope it's Friday when Chris has off work.

How are you doing with your house hunting Vero?

Hi all - been off VJ for a while, have been enjoying not thinking about anything immigration related but I have been thinking about you all, wondering how you're doing.

Just read a couple of pages so probably missed a lot of updates from others but wanted to say I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad and your accident MandaNchris, that is absolutely terrible! I do think you're right though, you've got all the bad stuff out of the way and now 2012 should be full of good things. Take care of yourself and your family, think positive thoughts.

Not much going on here, which I suppose is good and bad. Bit bored. Still nothing on the work front. Kept myself busy fixing up our house for rent while we look for a bigger one to buy but haven't found anything yet. Recession hit Baltimore hard yet everyone still thinks their house is worth the overinflated price they paid for it years ago. So that's frustrating, now that all the housework's complete not really sure what to do with myself - besides cook and clean...this 1950s housewife thing is weird, lol!

Went back to Canada in August for 2 weeks and again this month for 2 weeks. Was nice to visit but glad to be back. Funny, don't really miss Toronto, probably because my friends and family come here all the time to visit, which is great.

Here's to a 2012 that brings us all much happiness! Will keep in touch.

Hey Brenda2010!!! Nice to hear from you!!! Glad that everything is going well! enjoy your time at home, especially if you guys can afford it, I miss it! But Chris and I couldn't afford me not working, so...

Well, we made an offer on a house Friday night! Yeah! It was so stressful that I forgot my purse at Starbucks! I freaked out, we drove back there, only to find it hanging on the chain untouched! I most have good Karma!!! :innocent:

The agent said we should hear back in 7 to 10 days, I'll keep you posted!

I hope you're feeling better mandaNchris. When it rains it pours, doesn't it? Just be patient, good things happen to good people, and you're one of them, we all know that (F)

Take care everyone! I'll keep you posted on the house! Fingers and toes crossed!!!

So Sunday my heart started doing scary stuff. Went to the doctor he did a EKG which was normal, blood test and urine sample. Then he sent me to a heart specialist the next day to have a echo cardiograph done. Went there got the cardiograph done and they put me on a heart monitor for a month. Doctor office called and told me they found blood in my urine and wanted another sample. Went there today to give them it. Heart specialist called today to let me know the echo cardiograph was normal. Thank goodness! Then the doctor office called and said no blood in my urine today but some levels were high so they are putting me on antibiotics. My blood is low and they want me to take a daily vitamin with iron in it and to drink lots of fluids. Everything else is normal. So that was good news today but doesn't explain why my heart was acting up. Maybe due to stress, I don't know.

The claim adjuster came out and decided our car is indeed totaled. The insurance company called back the same day (surprise! lol) and informed Chris that our car is worth almost 9000 dollars (way more then we thought). Chris asked about buying the car back so we can use the engine and some other parts. They said it would cost 1400 and they will take it out of the money for the car plus our 500 dollar deductible. So we were pretty dang happy about this. More money then we thought we'd get for it and we can sell the parts and junk the rest to make more. We are planning on paying off some debt. That is going to be so nice. Oh and it will pay for my fathers funeral that we put on our credit card.

So that's all the new stuff that's been going on with us. Things are starting to look up :D

The claim adjuster came by today to give us our check. We are going to save up and buy a new truck with a crew cab so it will be safe for Alex to ride in. That is going to be our "family" car. Chris has decided to sell his mustang so that is going to help put a down payment on the new truck. He is sad about selling it though and I feel bad for him because he put a lot of hard work into that car and a lot of money. It's his baby from before Alex or I was around. I know it's going to be very hard for him to let go of it.

Wow, seems like you're going through so much in such a short time! I believe that stress causes more diseases than we'll ever know! I'm glad you're alright now though!

Great news on the car too!!! What kind of truck? Like Chevy?
