You should of seen us on our K-1 journey thread..We were even more Crazy then..lol we are alot more mellow now! Best of luck with your interview coming up, it's easy peasy :) We all stressed more then we needed too, now I got a patch of grey hair to tend to now..lol joy joy!!! Most of us here had our k-1 interviews in Aug last year...Augest is a good month (Augest last year was the most stressfulest day of my life) hehehe :P

thanks for that...so long way to go yet..oh boy  so what has been the most stressful part up to the point you reached? I have to say mine was the RFE that took way to long to get to us, so created such a long delay...what has yours been? or would you rather not even think of all the past stresses, which I want to forget about too, too much to look forward to

For me, it was the lack of control. Not knowing WHEN our interview would be and having to wait, and wait and wait... It wasn't as bad with the green card, but it was still very stressful, not knowing if we'd have an interview, not knowing if we'd get a RFE... All in all, it was very smooth, but even though people say 'don't worry it'll be fine' (and I'm totally one of those), you'll still stress out and will still be anxious...

Just believe in your relationship and in your future, because after all, that's all that matters!

Oh, and enjoy your time in Canada because you'll miss it in less than 3 months!!!

Mine is mostly the same as Vero...The waiting is what killed us and not knowing what was going on and when to plan the wedding date, but it's all out of the way now and I wish I didn't stress as must as I did because everything always ends up falling into place in the end. Like you mentioned...If we get get threw this, we can get threw anything!!!

Since you mentioned timmies...I sure do miss it :( my family and friends from Canada keep us stocked tho..hahaha...They send us and my husbands family shipments of timmies coffee.. I think I got half of Texas hooked on Timmies coffee now!! Hehe Too Funny!

Ya'll keep strong and good things will come your way :)

Oh my goodness, I read your very thorough "about me" progress chart: and I have to save the AOS is a whole other waiting game..now I know why you guys are soooo nuts.... I can't believe there are so many more steps to go before this is all over, does it really ever stop????, and I noticed you applied for your SSN in your maiden name, can I ask why? I am not sure when our marriage will take place, but I imagine pretty soon as I am approved at my K1 interview in Montreal on August 3, I don't want to assume anything, so I don't have a POE either...any advice????

Call me nuts...I ended up rewriting it!!! :P

The most stressful part of this process for me is the stage you are at now, the only thing you can really do is go day by day. I was lucky enough to have a Canadian reception in May before my Aug interview, without being married and not knowing how the interview was going to go. Luckily we were approved. It was stressful because we didn’t know what was going to happen, but we are very glad we had it because I knew a lot of my Canadian family and friends wouldn’t be able to come to our wedding in Texas and I wanted them to be able to celebrate with us. Once we were approved for our K-1 visa, we started to plan my POE and wedding date. We were having a big wedding in Texas, so the Canadian reception helped out a lot. The wedding took a lot of planning, I was very luck to have my husbands family help to make our day a very special day for us. Without there help, I don’t think it would of turned out as great as it did.

The reason why I applied for my SSN in my maiden name was because I was arriving in the states in Sept. and I knew we weren’t going to be getting married until Nov. You need to apply for your SSN before your 90 days are up (2 to 3 weeks before) I knew we would be close. So I went ahead and got it done in my maiden name after my POE. I tried changing my SSN to my married name after our wedding, but they would not let me because my 90 day mark on my visa was almost up. I’m glad I got it in my maiden name or else I would have had to wait until I got my EAD and or Green Card to get a SSN.

The AOS stage isn’t bad at all, it’s just the waiting that can drive you bonkers still, but at least your happily married with your husband who you love. It makes it a lot more easier getting threw it together. You might be a little bit bored for awhile because you won’t be able to work until you get your EAD and you won’t be able to travel home until you get your AP. Just keep busy, maybe volunteer somewhere of interest and over all just have fun.

Yep, the SSN thing is very true, and do not wait for your marriage certificate to get it. It doesn't take that long to get, but that varies from state to state. And then doing the name change is not hard and very quick as well...

The AOS is not that bad, it's just a lot of paper work. Start looking at it right now, it'll save you some time when it's time to fill them... That's what I did, and it helped a lot...

I don't think we're nuts actually... We would be if we hadn't kept in touch and helped each other out... I know I would!!!

Alaba, good luck on Tuesday!!! Let us know how it goes!!!

The AOS forms are almost the same as the k-1 forms. Almost all the same questions. All the stuff you have to send in is pretty much the same stuff you had already sent in. They just like you to repeat yourself over and over apparently lol

Good luck Alaba. Hope everything goes smoothly for you.

Life is like a roller coaster. Hold on tight and enjoy the ride!
