I received my Green card on the 19th. I'm so glad it's here.

After receiving it, I went for my drivers license. Apparently I have to pass a physical driving test? I thought I was done with all of that );

Things are coming together! My husband and I are in the midst of moving, so I won't be on VJ for a while. Best of luck on your interview Vero!!!!!!

Congrats on getting your green card. Good luck on your driving test. I am studying for my drivers license right now. I've never had a drivers license before so I have to do the written test and driving test when I go for it.

Have a happy move! I hope its stress free.

Life is like a roller coaster. Hold on tight and enjoy the ride!

And you're right, we're next! I'm so relieved that so many of us are having interviews (that might sound bad, but I mean it in a good way!), makes me relax about the whole thing I guess!

Me again...

So I heard that now, the cut-off date for a possible government shutdown would be March 7th... Right before my interview... Guys, please knock on wood for me that this doesn't happen!!! That would suck!!!

What kind of government shut down??? Geez... hopefully they stick my GC in the mail before that.

Still NO luck with jobs here. This place is dry. Just going to apply for something useless that'll probably ruin any future chances at getting a decent job too haha.

We went to Michigan to visit Justin's grandma's, two were hospitalize (one passed away so we extended our stay). Entering the US through ON/MI Sarnia border was fine, he just reviewed my AP an that was it. Coming back at the same border with the guy that was all wrong last time they send me back in for more processing. They said it's supposed to happen every time, but the helpful guy we saw last time say us and remembered us and said no we don't need to be re-prossed every time like I said... but it was too late, they already started. Finger prints and all haha, they even asked for my EAD which was weird. Funniest part is the woman put the wrong date on everything.

See profile for our K-1 Visa/AOS story from 2010-2011Apparently we love USCIS/NVC so much we left and are doing it again! This time giving IR-1 a whirl. Rock on immigrators.

07/09/2014 sent in IR-1 packet to Chicago Lockbox

07/16/2014 NOA1

07/17/2014 check cashed by USCIS

10/01/2014 found out we are expecting baby #2 June 2015!

12/15/2014 NOA2

12/30/2014 Case received by NVC

03/23/2015 Received Case and Inv # from NVC after many calls and bogus excuses.

03/24/2015 AOS payment accepted by NVC

04/09/2015 IV payment finally accepted by NVC after the set the wrong fee and took weeks to correct it.

*many more delays thanks to the agency processing my fingers prints to the RCMP and the post office losing our mail*

05/20/2015 Packet sent to NVC via UPS, eta May 28.

06/16/2015 Baby #2 due - homebirth in Scottsdale, AZ

Question about the checklist for items to bring to the interview; what are "All documentation establishing your eligibility for permanent residence".

Also, since my medical was done in Aug and I sent a copy of my immunization records and receipt for medical with my AOS, sealed documents were given at K1 interview... I don't need anything else right? Just planning on bringing the immunization records and receipt and DVD I got. I wasn't given anything else from Dr. Seidens.

I don't need anything else right? Just planning on bringing the immunization records and receipt and DVD I got. I wasn't given anything else from Dr. Seidens. That's what I will bring too, since the medical was already submitted at the border... I think that if they had lost it or needed something else before the interview, we would have gotten a RFE...

Oh, and sorry about your loss, I hope you guys are ok (F)

The checklist is annoying like that. It repeats things with different words! Ugh.

Thanks. At least the other grandma is doing well, her getting sick was really not expected.

Yeah, I guess when people get to a certain age, it's a day-to-day deal, you never know what's going to happen. At least you guys were there and got to see her.

I know what you mean about this checklist, I feel like K-1 interview all over again! I'm almost done with everything, except that we asked for our tax transcript for 2010 and I don't think we'll get it in time. I have the printout from Turbo tax though at least. And I want to make copies of our bank statement just in case they ask for evidence for the support form. And I think I might get Chris to sign an updated affidavit of support, just to be safe!

3 more days Tater&#######! You're that close to being done with immigration for two years!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you know that I mailed off my EAP/AOS this morning, woohoo, soooo happy that's done! And now I wait. Reading your posts keeps me going though, so thank you.

Quick question - I too, will be applying for EI, in fact, applied as soon as I got down here but they've put my file on hold till I'm eligible to work/get my green card. Did that happen to anyone else? Also, did y'all start looking for work prior to receiving you green card? when you received your approval?

When you have a sec., thanks, B

Congrats Brenda2010! Just to know, did you apply for AP as well?

I think Tater&####### did the EI thing, you might get a lot of info from her. As for job hunting before getting the EAD, it all depends I think... If you're specialized in a field, you might be able to look right away and find an employer who will wait for you and hold the job until you get the card. But if it's just random, I don't think people will be that understanding... I don't know, I guess it depends on where you are too...

I'm sure you did, I was just making sure because I thought you had done like Ken and Kate and choose not to apply for it, just wanted to double check I guess! Don't worry though, if you know the name of the form, that means you filled it!

I am collecting EI. Once your EAD is approved they can start paying you. Mine was approved in Jan and I have STILL been trying to find work. I live in a weird area though. Small town, mostly military so any place that is tailored to my description I cannot do because I am not a citizen :(

EI is pretty easy if you've already called. You call them back once you have the EAD card and fax or scan/email a copy to them with your SNN and they send you the reports in the mail. They ask you to keep record of all the jobs you apply for in case they want to see some.
