Good morning crew!

How is everyone doing? How was your weekend? Did you guys watch the Superbowl? We didn't, we started watching Mad Men and we're getting the disks through Netflix; we're hooked! We got our tax refund on Friday, so we did a lot of shopping this weekend and got a flat screen TV. Gosh, everything looks so much better!

Anyways, just looking at our list and did you guys send your AOS package, mandaNchris, Alaba and Brenda2010? Let me know when you do or did so I can update our list!

Rose416, hope everything goes well during your interview today! Let us know when you get a chance!!! On that same note, here's a list of what I have so far for my interview. I haven't received the letter in the mail yet, but could those of you who have had their interview look at it and tell me if I'm missing anything?

Here's what I have:

- Medical form from K-1 visa (vaccination sheet and receipt)

- All proofs I had gathered for the K-1

- Letter from the bank and last statement showing both our names

- Pictures since we got married, every card we received at the reception

- Flight information for our trip in May with the entire family

- Our ring tatoos (didn't get wedding rings/bands, we had our initials tatooed on our ring fingers instead)

And here's what I don't know if I'll have in time for the interview:

- Tax transcripts for 2010 (just sent them the form this morning...)

- Confirmation page that states that I am the beneficiary for Chris' life insurance through his 401K

And do we need our birth certificate at the interview? I can't find the translation I had from the K-1 interview

Sorry this is a long post! Thanks for letting me know if we're on the right track with our list!

Hi Vero,

Meant to look over this before but looks good!

Yes you DO need your birth certificate (ORIGINAL) at the interview. Basically ANY documents from the AOS package that were a photocopy of an original (both your birth certificates, marriage certificate etc.) they asked us for. She basically just looked at it and then ticked it on her list as she had seen it in person or something! Proof looks good...we brought any insurance we had with both our names on it: car, appartment etc. Bank account with both our names on it, credit card etc. Also a selection of pictures from the past 6 months not just the wedding.

Hope this helps:)

Oh and I can't remember if the IO looked at my birth certicate translation...BUT seeing as it clearly states on the AOS interview instructions that any documents that are not in english must be accompanied by a translation I would make sure you have it!

Well...I just got home and noticed I had two emails from USCIS...AND....My EAD and AP are APPROVED..

Going to enjoy this weekend very much!!! Now I can stop my stressing and at least get some indentification in my name ...WhoooHoooo So HaPpY!!!

WOW! That was fast, congrats!!

Tons of good news, and of course more bad news here. Never a dull day in my life! Bad news first, Justin just found out that both of his grandma's were hospitalized over the last week so we need to take a trip to MI and see them. They are both pretty sick and old, so not sure how it's going to go. We know one is getting surgery at the end of this week. We'll probably drive Friday and stay for a week. It'll be cutting it close for our interview so I am getting everything together now in case we end up doing the interview on the way home from MI. Still no job and nothing new in the area for the last week either... in other bad news by 8month old giant puppy keeps stealing my papers and running away with them proudly lol.

In good news we've booked our flights to Phoenix in June to go pick out our new home and got a great deal on the flight ($578 for two people round trip from Syracuse) and a hotel (Holiday Inn Fountain Hills) for $29/night. We'll be driving down in August with the cat, dog and motorcycle in our pickup haha.

Happy Valentine's Day (even though I don't celebrate it).

See profile for our K-1 Visa/AOS story from 2010-2011Apparently we love USCIS/NVC so much we left and are doing it again! This time giving IR-1 a whirl. Rock on immigrators.

07/09/2014 sent in IR-1 packet to Chicago Lockbox

07/16/2014 NOA1

07/17/2014 check cashed by USCIS

10/01/2014 found out we are expecting baby #2 June 2015!

12/15/2014 NOA2

12/30/2014 Case received by NVC

03/23/2015 Received Case and Inv # from NVC after many calls and bogus excuses.

03/24/2015 AOS payment accepted by NVC

04/09/2015 IV payment finally accepted by NVC after the set the wrong fee and took weeks to correct it.

*many more delays thanks to the agency processing my fingers prints to the RCMP and the post office losing our mail*

05/20/2015 Packet sent to NVC via UPS, eta May 28.

06/16/2015 Baby #2 due - homebirth in Scottsdale, AZ

nickbits, Rose416, Wishing, did you guys bring anything regarding Affidavit of Support? Rose416, you mentioned that cards we bring (cards received at the reception) should be dated... What do you mean, like me writing down the date we received them?

Hi Vero,

The officer wanted cards signed and dated by relatives. My aunt always writes the date in the top right corner of the card, so that we'll have it for years to come. I showed him a bunch of 'congratulatory' cards, but they had no date.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your prep. I had my birth certificate, but the officer didn't ask for it. Bring yours though!!!

Alrights, thanks Rose416. Some cards have dates but most don't, I'll bring them anyways I guess. And so you guys didn't bring anything regarding the affidavit of support?

I brought a freshly signed affidavit of support with me (along with supporting proof) but was never asked for it.

I'm surprised how much less stuff we were asked to provide at the interview versus what others have reported here.

Our interview:

Are you a terrorist?

Can you show me something with your US address on it?

APPROVED!

Wasn't asked for pictures or originals of anything, although I had sent in an original marrage cert with the application.

Thanks nickbits... I wonder what I should do? I was thinking of getting Chris' boss to sign another letter, and bring the latest statement from his savings account. What do you think? Sorry to put you on the spot nickbits, but you're like our Yoda! Full of wisdom!

orfee just got his ead/ap too, kinda pointless cause no you don't need them if you have your greencard, but if we hadn't been transferred to CSC, we would have needed them since the wait time is longer..

i think i was more excited to get that email than orfee was (maybe because i'm the paperwork queen - he just gets the updates :) )

but since we had all that craziness with montreal and getting his visa sent out (not to mention all the waiting before hand) i'm super super excited to done with this for a couple years!

I would bring anything I thought could be useful. No harm in bringing too much.

I had tons of stuff they didn't ask for but I rather had it and not needed it than needed it and not have it.

So true... I'll do that then!

Do you guys know why some cases are transfered and some aren't? Is it random?
