Have a safe POE tomorrow Ken and Kate.. I'm going to be leaving Thursday.. Extremely excited!!!

I will be calling for sure the CRA to inform them of the move and to stop my G.S.T/H.S.T checks..

other then that I think i'm going to wait on informing everyone else, not sure how long we will be living at this address in the U.S.. so i'll just have it sent to this address here in Canada for now..

Me and Manda were searching for numbers of who we needed to call..

Is this the correct number to call for G.S.T/H.S.T for the CRA :1-800-959-1953 ???

The normal Individual income tax inquiries number is 1-800-959-8281 ???

Which one did ya'll call???

and for OHIP heath care, is this the right number to contact?

1-866-295-8224

If anyone has any ideas...Please let us know on who you contacted and what numbers you called..:D

Hey guys I've always done these changes of address online (as I hate having to make 50 calls to change addresses everywhere)

So for government stuff (CRA) if you get an EPASS you can change all your info online. Although I've only used this so far for moves within Canada so I may end up having to call them this time. I'm aiming at calling them this week exactly to stop any GST/HST credits!

Here are the options on the CRA website:

http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/newaddress/

Last time I changed OHIP I went to the local office. But you can also do it at Service Ontario website.

Hope this helps:)

Got married last week, waiting for marriage cert to apply for AOS. Went down to the SSA today to apply for her SSN (2 weeks after POE). Still wasn't in their system (grr!!) and they sent it for manual verification. We POE'd at the ambassador bridge. If anyone goes through there, might want to give it more than 2 weeks to apply.

I guess it must depend on the State, because I got my SSN maybe a little short of two weeks, and she did not seem to have any problem 'finding' me... Well, now I hope she did it right!

Hey guys,

I just got off the phone with Ontario Sales Tax Credit. I was told I need to send a photocopy of my Passport K1 entry visa and one of my marriage certificate for their official record. When I originally phoned last month to cancel my GST/HST credit, it was a smooth transaction and not much was requested. Has anyone encountered this before?

AOS

Civil Ceremony - 08/27/10

Applied for SSN in married name - 09/06/10 (I was told it will take 4 weeks to get the background check cleared and an additional 2 weeks to receive my card)

AOS/EAD/AP sent with FedEx - 09/25/10

E-Notice From Chicago - 10/05/10

I-797C, NOA1 Received - 10/08/10

SSN card received (FINALLY!)- 10/23/10

Biometrics appointment - 10/28/10

EAD Approved - 11/19/10 (USCIS Website Notice)

AP Approved & Received - 11/22/10

EAD Received- 11/23/10

I am now a U.S. Permanent Resident!!

Hey everyone!

I've been away for the last couple days, busy getting married and all  ! It was great, very simple but gosh pretty emotional! It was crazy saying the vows thinking we'd been waiting for this for 9 months!!!

I'm really happy! (F)
