HHmm so I already have a SSN from working in US last year. So I guess all I do is do the name change bit when I have the marriage certificate... :innocent:

I'm actually more wondering if its going to complicate anything... :bonk:

I don't see why, you're actually ahead in a way, because as soon as you get your marriage certificate back, you can do the name change and apply for AOS in that name too! Lucky you! :D:thumbs:

At least I found out that getting the SSN is free

Wishing, does your SSN have "valid for work only with DHS authorization" or something along those lines?? I know it's not exactly correct, but something along those lines!

That's what mine says, as I was on a work visa in 2006. We're still waiting for our NoA2, so it's a long ways off... but I'm pretty sure I can just go to the SS office and show them the marriage certificate and K-1 and all that, and get it changed to my married name.

I think we're actually at an advantage, because we can eliminate one step!

I think that's how it works anyway :)

Makes sense! Lucky you!

Hey guys,

I got my SSN number today and the mariage license! Very glad it's done! Getting the SSN was painless, apart from waiting in line behind the perfect example of a white trash - s'cuse my language, but seriously guys, if I could have had my phone on to take a picture, you would have agreed!

Getting married next week, and looking forward to starting the AOS process once I do the name change on my SSN!

Anyone else has anything going on?

I'm super excited to start working on the AOS stuff, but I haven't even POE'd yet!

Apologies for not posting as much, but things have been moving so fast! Rest assured Kate and I are still following everyone's progress, and scouring these threads for answers to our questions :)

Congrats to all on being approved, and good luck to the AOS phase!

Well, I had a pretty detailed list, like suitcase one: 3 pair of socks, 5 books, 2 picture frames, etc... I had even separated it by pockets for each suitcase, like small front pocket, big front pocket, inside pocket... And when I flew, they didn't even ask for none of it, they just asked me if these - my suitacases - were mine... It might be different if you drive though...

And I also did my POE at Trudeau airport... Where are you doing yours?

We will be POEing at the Windsor/Detroit bridge. I figured if they wanted to look through the box they can lol Most people seem to say that they dont care about your list anyways.

I had to fill out the CBP Form 3299 for unaccompanied goods as I used Upack. I put "Box 1: office supplies, photo albums, books etc." for each box. No details on how many numbers, nothing just a general listing of whats in the box. Seems to have crossed the border earlier tonight!

I received my SSN card on Saturday, it's all fresh and clean! Too bad I'll have to go get another one in 2 weeks! Planning the reception -well, more like a cookout- and trying to remain calm with this AOS stuff... I think if all goes well, I should be able to mail it in around the first week of October.

Hope everyone is happy, and doing good!

Cheers!

What did everyone do in terms of informing Canadian Authorities, GST, Health Offices, etc of your leaving? Is there anything special to do on that front?

My POE is Wednesday at the Blue Water Bridge in Sarnia, and I'm hoping it all goes well. Driving down in a uHaul truck with my brother and all my belongings!

WOW I just downloaded and took a brief overlook at all the AOS forms...yikes! Seems like even more paperwork then the original I-129 F petition. Anyone begun filling out the forms? I'm going to start in on it hopefully later this week!

Good luck on your POE!
