Ideological wars are dangerous. It's becoming clear that it's not a war on terror it's a war on Islam which serves political agendas in keeping us in war in predominately Islamic societies. War is a big money maker for those that make war their business. The US is getting out of Iraq and that was one step.

Oh no, it's the recycled "It's for the military bases" and the military-industrial complex argument we've heard for years. The Iraqis are more than a little uneasy as the U.S. leaving the Iraqi military for the job. Wouldn't it be more profitable to increase the mayhem?

Ideological wars are dangerous especially if you lose. Wars are dangerous period.

This all comes from a mosque in NYC? Wow, I never knew that.

In reality, the public has been exposed to few things Islamic, or they wouldn't be so collectively ignorant about Islam.

There's plenty of news coverage on a variety of news stories that about implications with Islam but most people have other interests. How much do you about China, for example, if you got no special reason to study a nation that has far more on impact on us than the Islamic world put together?

There's plenty of talk about the economy but most people are woefully ignorant on macro-economics even though it's far more important to what's closer to their hearts- their wallets.

Some of Ron Paul's points are indeed spot on. However he makes the same majestic leap into absurdity when he suggests all who feel the placement of this mosque are motivated by Islamophobia. Hogwash!

All of Islam is not responsible but to pretend only these 19 highjackers, and their respective countries are the source of extremist Islamic terrorism flies in the face of too many contemporary examples to even justify bringing any of them up.

Islamic extremism comes from Islam. Just as Christian extremism comes from Christianity. Bent and warped views to be sure, but a part of each religions whole.

You and I do not agree on many things, but this is one where we do agree. I think it's utterly disingenuous for anyone to attempt to claim any concerns are solely due to any phobia or bigotry. Of course, this has become the norm in the US. You can no longer have a discusison about anything that can be twisted into a phobia, racism or bigotry.

I could post a list of daily atrocities and people will still stick to their you're a bigot line. If the world was the same and people thought the same, then every country would be a clone of one another. Which begs the question, at what point do these denies wake up and realize there is a problem?

Now perhaps you can finally realize what I was saying about illegal aliens.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Post containing baiting comments meant to incite reactionary responses has been removed.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I know lots about China.

I'm becoming increasingly convinced that most people wallow in their ignorance of things that should be important to them.

Well I don’t understand why all this discussions about building a religious center!!!! It’s so simple. They own the property and they have the money and the constitution support them. So where is the problem? Just wondering if it was a Christian or a Jewish center, are we going to have all these controversies?

Let s accept that a couple of Muslim who was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. How can we judge 1.57 billion Muslims by 19 persons???

For those who believe that the president is a Muslim, I am telling them he not. It’s not you name or even you heritage that makes a Muslim!!! To be a Muslim you have practice and live Islam every single second of your life!!!

If 9/11 and 9 years of war in 2 majority Muslim countries and our "Muslim" president with the middle name no one is allowed to utter haven't enlightened the public about Islam, then an Islamic center sited at one of the worst locations funded by unknown sources has no hope of building anything than a bridge of reconciliation to nowhere.

Is there any reason why the mosqure backers they chose that site and won't accept anywhere else?

Well the war in Iraq wasn’t because of ALQAIDA. It was because the American and British government believed that Iraq has nuclear bombes and may use them to thread Israel. After destroying the country and killing thousands of civilians and when they didn’t find anything they said that they’re sorry because they had mistaken information! :bonk::crying:
