Just received my invoice from NVC and paid it a trillionth of a millisecond later. So far so good at the NVC. My wife received an email from the NVC with the Choice of Agent (I was copied on it), then a few minutes later I received the invoice for the AOS (my wife was copied). Paid it online (need bank routing number and account number, no credit cards) and then had my wife email NVC her choice of agent. I'm basically following this guide:

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/How_to_bring_your_foreign_spouse_to_live_in_the_US

I'll keep you all posted. So far it seems that the NVC actually does something with the case once they get it unlike some people in the lone star state!

You just made me fall out of my chair laughing with that. Really Saylin? You seem to be one of the most put together ones on here! What's funny about that is that I was scared I was gonna do that and I literally wrote out a list of things to ask and do before I dialed NVC.

Oh, I had a list alright, but I was just so excited, it completely escaped me. And I see myself as put together as well, but for whatever reason, giving email addresses flew right over my head headbonk.gif I managed to get an operator a few hours ago and gave them our email addresses. Let's hope I don't forget anything else now laughing.gif

Another day, another update. I'm liking NVC so far! I paid my AOS fee yesterday and it already processed and I already got my barcode printed and am putting the finishing touches on my AOS packet which I will be sending Super Duper Quadruple Express Mail tomorrow. I'll keep updating so you guys know what to look forward to once TSC decides to get off their arses and stamp approve approve approve on all of your cases.

Did you get transferred from CSC to TSC? If so, then the fact that getting an NVC case number has been so long is actually normal. A lot of people approved from TSC have yet to get a case number and some people have been waiting more than one month.

I think that there is a black hole at TSC (or many black holes). In this case, they don't seem to have a good process for when a case is approved to move it to NVC quickly. I'm guessing that each agent either waits until he/she has a big pile and then sends them all together OR the approving agent sends them to someone else at TSC who waits does the same thing (waits for a big pile before sending them and does this only once per month or once per quarter :bonk: ) or, even scarier they sit on the agents desk for a while AND THEN sit in the central distribution to NVC for even longer. :crying: Obviously, they are not leaving TSC in the same way that they leave CSC.

I'm guessing that all of the service centers that process petitions like these send SOOO many files to NVC that they probably have very large standard shipping crates that they use. They probably just send one off once it's filled up. However, TSC is processing so slowly that it's taking forever to fill up each crate, so it just sits around full of approved petitions for weeks or even months until it's full enough for them to send. Just a guess...

Two weeks ago we were at our 5 mos point so I phoned USCIS. I was told our 5 mos were not actually up until last week (I can't count apparently) and to phone back and ask to put in a 'service request' once our case was past the 'normal processing period'.

Last week I phoned back and asked to file a service request. I was then put on hold while the agent checked the TSC (supposedly). When she came back on the line she told me that Texas was now processing files from August 16 and that since our case was only 10 days after, we are still within the normal processing period for the TSC and I could not file a service request.
