CONGRATULATIONS!!! :D First step at NVC--in about a week, start calling and harrassing them for a case number and Invoice Identification Number! If they have your case in the system, give them the petitioner's and the beneficiary's email addresses. Good luck!

I am an indian who lived all my life in Saudi Arabia except for the 5 years I moved to India, Hyderabad for my studies(2003-2008).I need to get a Police Clearance Certificate for my stay in Hyderabad. My question is, do I need to go back to India to get the PCC, OR can I get it from the Indian embassy located here in saudi Arabia?? Im very confused about this. Anyone else in a situation where they need to get a pcc from the home country BUT is living abroad??? PLS HELP!

I went to the Indian portion on NVC: http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_4881.html?cid=3582

Under police records:

"Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

  • All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office.
  • Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.
  • Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.
  • Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India."

To me, this sounds like since you are not an Indian applicant and you want a police record while applying outside of India, then it won't be available to you. Just to be sure though, I would call up NVC and ask about this. Perhaps call up the Indian embassy in Saudi Arabia as well to confirm.
